Ordered some stuff from Fat Face online (store didn't have stock) and it got delivered by DPD this morning. Very impressive app where you can tell them where to leave it and follow the driver around his route. Within a minute or so of the delivery, there was a photo on the app showing the parcel sitting on my doorstep! I'm a great believer in supporting bricks & mortar shops, but I can quite see why online is growing. No wonder we're all getting obese!

Morning
4/7 for me.

My recent top up of BT.A @305p is looking good this morning, despite the Italian fraud.
Openreach employees not to display BT logo on uniforms amongst other changes.
Paying zillions for the European/Europa Cup football rights is ok then. I've already had a BT sales call .

Morning All.

3/7 for me this week too. I noticed wood stoves were being slated by some in the air pollution article, but I was led to believe a good one operated efficiently was very clean due to the high temperatures?

We hit 14.9°C yesterday dropping to a low of 7.9°C last night. The solar managed 9.55kwh and put just over 2kwh into the immersion heater.

If you want to see increasing traffic Aleman, you just need to spend some time around here. I heard yesterday that yet another local field has been earmarked for housing, on another road that is already gridlocked during busy times. We're told we need all these extra houses but on the site we visited, most of the larger homes were reserved but none of the "affordable" houses have been sold!

Strange goings on at ALD, a chance to top up?

Not much news today. Heathrow traffic numbers fairly good overall but closer inspection shows Asia and Middle East up strongly, Europe up marginally, while US and UK are down 1.7% and 2.3% in Feb after being marginally positive in January..

Wetherspoons total revenue up 1.4% in 2016 but down 0.2% for last 6 weeks. LfL were up but they must be a few net pub closures. The chairman has a good moan about unfair and increasing taxes.

Pub and traffic home were fairly quiet again last night. It's been mixed so far this year but definitely a bit quieter overall than 2016. There's been a few weeks where we've wondered where everyone is and if lack of teams might threaten the quiz's future..

I had a nice evening in the Banking Hall in Cornhill. If you've never been, it's worth a visit. It was a private function, but the booze was good and the canapes excellent.

and I came home to find I was up +0.258% on the day (FTSE100 -0.268%).

Best rises: AV. +6.5%, ADM +4.4% and WMH +2.8%.

Worst falls: BLT -5.8% XD, S32 -4.6% XD and RDSB -2.0%.

The insurers done good, as they say in footballing circles.

Needed to replace a tyre, arriving at ATS discovered that the wheel locking nut missing. Luckily dealer had a spare in his toolbox, but had to travel across city to get it.

Max temp 14C, keen chilly W wind up to 30mph this morning kept a lid on sunshine warmth.

Aleman, the other half cut the front grass earlier this week and it looked lovely afterwards. I suspect today's sunshine will get it moving ready for the next cut!

Broadly unchanged today.

Sunny all day. Standard daffs nearly all out. First narcissi opening. I think the grass is going to need cutting again sooner than I had hoped.

I bumped into my other online retailer acquaintance this morning. This is the one that sells UK-sourced ladies' fashions. He seemed a bit disappointed that his fairly normal post-Christmas lull had yet to show any sign of ending yet. He would not yet say business is bad but is getting a little worried about this year's well documented headwinds.

A lovely day here, easily hitting the 15°C forecast.

I ordered a new wooden picnic table at the weekend which arrived yesterday. I duly set about assembling it after lunch and found that the (supplied) 8 x 75mm coach bolts needed to fix the legs were actually 2 x 75mm and 6 x 60mm - a bit annoying and I'll be going to Homebase or similar in the morning!

Cracking the flags here, with a 14.7C high around lunchtime. Despite the wind, which was chilly this morning, it felt quite warm. Indoors it hit 27C with the back door open from befoe 10am. You can't beat weather like this. Sunny and warm but not too hot to do jobs.

Still lots of bad news coming through in the US. This one is less consumer-orientated and possibly bodes ill for small business. 70 stores to close.

North American airlines had the slowest demand growth, with traffic rising 3.2% in January, compared to a year ago. Capacity climbed 3.1%, and load factor was flat at 80.3%. Traffic on the transpacific market has continued to trend upwards but North Atlantic traffic growth has weakened since the middle of 2016, reflecting softer demand on UK-US routes.

And getting worse?

Hugo Boss numbers showed an American slump.

I presume it's the oil price hammering BP. & BRCI?

Zopa has updated it's credit risk data. 2016 and 2017 tranch loans are now running with projected default rates similar to the last crisis peak. (4.08% and 4.89% versus 2008's 4.24%, respectively, after 2008 overan its projection of 3.58%. The low in this cycle was an actual 0.69% in 2012.). Now imagine if this 7-fold explosion in defaults is repeated right across the banking system. UK consumer spending has been bought since 2013 by increasingly risky lending that is now running into trouble.

The last time Santander Consumer's US auto loans showed an improvement in delinquency rates was Q3 2014. Every quarterly tranche of loans issued since then shows a higher delinquency rate accumulating than the previous one. Increased car sales since 2014 have been bought with increasingly reckless lending that is now running into trouble.

Morning All.

Disappointed with Hammond's dividend tax change but probably hard to argue with it, more concerned about the NI increase for self-employed. He says he wants to make it a level playing field as they "use all services the same" but I think he is forgetting they get no SSP when they are sick, they get no maternity pay etc etc and of course they are generally taking more risk than an employee. Very poorly thought out and I think that one is likely to haunt him.

We saw 13.8°C yesterday and it had only dropped to 10.1°C by 6:30 this morning. We are due a nice day, just in time for the start of our new patio and path project, they arrive any minute!
