Stronger £ not helping me, but could have been worse, I suppose. -1.0%. YTD +17.6%.

A lovely sunny day. The slight southerly helped us achieve a much warmer-feeling 8.3C, after 1.6C, although I think that's still a touch low for the time of year.

Have a good weekend, all.

I'm down -0.746% on the day today (FTSE100 -1.429%), down -0.20% on the week (FTSE100 +0.56%) but up +8.07% YTD (FTSE100 +7.82% and HIX +11.39%).

Worst falls: IMI -6.29%, RDSB -4.57% and BA. -3.51%.

Best rises: BT.A +3.78%, MKS +3.28% and TW. +1.61%.

Another day of gyrations, with yesterday's stars falling to earth and vice versa. No idea why IMI fell but presumably a big holding has been sold. At one time during teh week I has below the FTSE on YTD move, but I have gained a bit back.

Just about freezing first thing and a lovely blue sky all day. Dropping off rapidly now, but rain expected later.

Have a good weekend,

DF

Off topic post and may be boring.

Right US presidential election (not a general election).

Clinton did well. :)
To understand this remember that the turnout was substancially up and she seems to have polled more votes than Obama. Again mid campaign she had a dose of pneumonia. When Trump pays her reguards in his unity speach he meant every word of it.

So who voted for Trump?
Well perhaps the words of his son must be born in mind. My Dad is a middle class guy that just happens to have a very large bank balance. (for middle class read UK working class).
So to the bloke that lost his home in the subprime melt down... he has a long memory and Trumps dislike of Corporatism, banks and outsourcing to low wage economies, well this must chime quite well.

We wait to see what happens, yet the question is will all the delegates vote as they should? In the past some have revolted against the candidate that they should support. I have yet to read what the final tally was, did Trump get Michigan?

So what should he do if voted as President?
My first target for action, if I were him, would be to remove the Feds authority to print money that should be the responsibility of the politicians and not a private bank with a board of directors appointed by the shareholders, all those shareholders in turn being private banks.
The Federal Reserve Bank is a private bank, and its shareholders are all private banks, two of the more notable being JP Morgan and NM Rothschild. There are two banks on the list that you will never have heard of, they are very obscure.

I wish Trump well, at 71 he will have the interests of the younger generation at heart, including his own family.

PS Tomato doing better than it should be.
Turmeric, Pepper and oil going well to.

Quite a funny old week. SIPP -0.08%, Virgin ISA -0.03%, pot +1.82% taking the YTD figures to SIPP +10.73%, Virgin ISA +1.11% and the pot +4.43%

The managed funds part of the SIPP is streaking ahead at +15.6% YTD so the individual shares are pulling it down overall. Perhaps it's a good thing the funds will gradually become a larger part of the overall SIPP as all the monthly contribution heads that way.

Planning to prune all the willows along the edge of our drive tomorrow, as long as the forecast rain isn't too severe! Will probably need to power wash the drive afterwards to remove all the moss which appears under the shade of the willows. Tennis on Sunday morning then off to see the grandaughter in the afternoon for her Birthday.

Enjoy your weekends.

That reminds me that I meant to add the L&G fund to my monthly top-up list when I amended the investment choices from this month, but forgot! I stopped paying more into the AXA fund but redirected that to Jupiter Asian Income.

Impressive Skinny, 4/7 for me!

Just popped out to get cakes for the staff as a thank you for their efforts getting a large order completed ahead of schedule!

Screen looked good when I went but I see it's red again with GSK & BP. taking a plunge.

Morning All.

Great to see the £ continuing its recovery, wonder when we'll get back to my target 1.20?

Utilities also recovering a bit this morning.

Market must be pricing in higher future inflation, but gold and $ selling off at the same time..... very strange day, US bond yields climbing, bond proxies like tobacco and utilities falling heavily which is understandable, markets also pricing in a Dec rate hike as financials moved higher or higher inflation will lead to higher rates and margins

Overall uk market off 1.2%, but the dow is having an great day!?!?!?

The problem comes for Trumps infrastructure spending and today's rotation out of income stocks to growth stocks is that he will have to deficit spend. He can only do that with the help of the FED and if people buy bonds. They are selling them off at the moment. The US wont be able to sustain higher real rates for a long time as interest payments on its $20trill debt would be unsustainable as their debt is 50% financed with T bills?

So a future of low rates and higher inflation and zero growth. (aka stagflation?)

How can he pull off growth. Inflation sure, but nothing real.

I'm down -1.123% on the day today (FTSE100 -1.213%). A funny day. As I indicated last night, I trimmed RIO back by 25% at 3197p, and put the proceeds in BLND at 610.4p and MKS at 326p. Then I realised that BA. had risen by over 5%, so it too went past the trigger point, so I sold 25% of them, putting the proceeds into AV. at 461p and BT.A at 361p. As a result of todays gyrations, RIO is still my heaviest share and AV. is ranked second. NG. put out decent looking results and fell like a stone.

Worst falls: IMB and NG., both -6.13% and BATS -4.94%.

Best rises: LGEN +5.01%, BA. +4.62% and TATE +3.79%.

The tobaccos and NG. are dfinitely under the cosh, TATE recovered some of yesterday's enormous fall, BA. are being trumped, but why LGEN rose so much I don't know. Of course, both BP. and RDSB went XD today. Looks like it pays to keep an eagle eye on the market at the moment.

About +3°C this morning, not a lot warmer this afternoon, when we had a light shower.

+0.37%, not on the same planet as last week. [FTSE 250 +0.39%]

Highest value risers : TCN +17.1%, BA. +4.6%, IRV +6.2%, CSN +7%, BEZ +1.9%, HSD +2.9%, PHNX +2.1%[incl RI shares today]

Worst value fallers : NG. -6.1%, GVC -4.1%, ALAI -5.1%, IMB -6.1%, UU. -4.9%, BT.A -4.1%, VOD -4%.

Some startling risers/fallers, slightly unnerving, adjusting to the new order.
Not keen on Trump but have we pulled a fast one over the EU helping to getting him into the White House. [if you read the Sun]

Heavy showers this afternoon has made ground icy wet. Forecast for dense fog early morning.

I had to look up to see what an SSD was, sounds impressive.

I drifted off as the day progressed but still managed a 0.6% rise after a very strong start. A contract for TCN that should enhance a forecasted rebound in profit next year brought a 15% rise which helped considerably. I had only one red - ALAI went nearly 5% the other way as worries about Trump affected the Brasilian currency and stockmarket.

We managed a bit of sunshine today so it eventually felt much warmer at 6.8C, even if it still hasn't dried out properly from the heavy rain that washed the frost away before dawn.

Utilities recovered a bit but still horrendous. SIPP -0.71% NG., UU. & DX(xd) but the pot +1.58% thanks to LLOY, LGEN & RR.

Bought euros on the rise this morning @ 1.1370 and more later this afternoon @ 1.1497

What a totally weird day!

My SIPP finished down 0.10% - it is virtually unchanged from Monday.

SSE & NG painful today - I managed 17.5 points on a late NG S/B and may add some SSE/SVT or UU. shares tomorrow.

Bought some SSE today after selling a few stocks in profit, especially LLOY which has done rather well.
I too am baffled by these anti-trump protesters, same with those that marched through London complaining about Brexit. I loathe Sturgeon and her ilk but didn;t take to the streets with pitch forks and burning torches when she got elected. The political left just doesn't get democracy.

I can see it wants to be a nice day, albeit cold after last night's harder frost and -1.0C, but a line of cloud keeps getting in the way of the sun even though most of the sky is blue. I need the sun to ripen my tomatoes which have been on strike for a few days under grey skies. I had to buy some from the supermarket this week!

Looks like the snow cover helped a few areas in the Vale of York down to around -3C last night.

Looks like a big rise for my lot today. The market seems to be concentrating on Trump's spending plans while ignoring the jump in longer interest rates which will hold back everyone else's. The voters voted for change but seem to have got more borrow and spend. I fancy it will lead to trouble.

Morning All.

Whether you like him or not, he was voted in so are they protesting against their fellow citizens?

NG. taking a bit of a battering this morning after the big exceptional item in their results. DX. also down but xd and only the same as the divi.

Bit of a rushed shop at SBRY last night as we wanted to get back for The Missing, but at least I got the staff Christmas wine which earned us £9 in Nectar points thanks to a voucher received last week.

Much milder, 10.2°C yesterday and 5.9°C last night with a bit of drizzle but it's now sunny.
