02/11/2012 20:27 | I was thinking of adding a bit more if/when it broke through £8... might still do so next week. I still think prospects are good for the long term | ryandj2222
02/11/2012 19:49 | ryandj...........I thought your comment looked over-optimistic until I witnessed today's share price performance. This thing just refuses to go down. You may well prove to be right. | ygor705

03/8/2012 15:21 | While John Nichols is the only family member to hold a notifiable interest of over 5% I do beleive other family members combined hold a significant amount not sure if it would be enough to stave off a takeover though. There was one mooted a few years back which came to nothing, with results like these I too would like the company to remain independent. 3800 | 3800
03/8/2012 09:11 | 3800...............I haven't got a problem with that as it is organic growth funded from cash flow. Problem for Nichols (and shareholders) is that predators can also see this! | ygor705
02/8/2012 15:53 | At the last shareholders meeting when questioned about the dividends failing to keep pace with rising profits it was stated by the chairman that the cash pile was stratigic to further expansion. 3800 | 3800
02/8/2012 08:38 | Fortunately, it doesn't rain much in the Middle East where a lot of Nichols growth seemd to be coming from! The cash pile is now significant and must either be a) reinvested b)heading back towards shareholders or c) likely to attract predators. Any of these scenarios is likely to be positive for shareholders. | ygor705

02/5/2012 09:22 | LONDON (Dow Jones)--Nichols PLC (NICL.LN), a London-listed soft drinks business, Wednesday said sales in the four months to the end of April showed double-digit growth. The company didn't give any figures but said U.K. sales growth is significantly up on the prior year following the launch of its new Weight Watchers range of low calorie soft drinks. Nichols said international sales to the Middle East, Africa and its developing markets also continue to deliver solid growth, without giving further details. "At this early stage of the financial year we are very pleased with the group's continuing progress and we are confident of delivering further sales and earnings growth in line with full year expectations," said non-executive chairman John Nichols. At 0710 GMT, shares +8.5 pence, or 1.2%, at 706.0 pence. | cambium
02/5/2012 07:23 | Not much wrong with this:- AGM Statement John Nichols, Non-Executive Chairman of Nichols plc (the "Group"), the soft drinks group, will make the following statement at the Group's Annual General Meeting to be held later today: Current Trading "I am pleased to report that our strong trading momentum has continued into the first four months to April 2012, with Group sales showing double digit growth against last year's very strong comparatives. This has been achieved despite the wider economic and consumer challenges and an extremely competitive UK soft drinks market. Boosted by the launch of our new Weight Watchers range of low calorie soft drinks, our UK sales growth is ahead of the market and significantly up on the prior year. International sales to the Middle East, Africa and our developing markets also continue to deliver solid growth for the Group. At this early stage of the financial year we are very pleased with the Group's continuing progress and we are confident of delivering further sales and earnings growth in line with full year expectations." The Queen's Award for Enterprise Nichols plc has a long standing, successful export business which in recent years has delivered strong growth for the Group. I am delighted to confirm that this has been recognised and we have been awarded a Queen's Award for International Trade. This prestigious award is made annually by H. M. the Queen to businesses achieving substantial overseas growth for a sustained period. | cwa1
01/5/2012 13:15 | Nicl is having a good 2012! MAybe a bit of a pull back before breaking nicely over £7 | ryandj2222
19/4/2012 18:36 | Break out the Vimto ---------- we're in sight of £7. | ygor705
13/3/2012 06:40 | Agreed. Their presence in the middle east with Vimto bodes well on that front. | panachegrp
10/3/2012 09:28 | Results are excellent and in line with expectations after the TU. Divi increase a little disappointing as is the lack of any announcement regarding investment of the cash pile. Taking everything into account leads me to the conclusion that NICL now looks exceptionally vulnerable to a takeover. Will be very surprised if another 12 months goes by without some rumblings on that front. | ygor705
08/3/2012 07:43 | Fantastic Results today ! Top draw ! | panachegrp |
