24/1/2016 19:14 | Shares in high street fashion favourite NEXT (LSE: NXT) have fallen by 19% from £80 to £65 since the start of December. It seems to have been a victim of the general market sell-off and of concerns over slower sales growth. However, I suspect this sell-off may have been slightly overdone. The shares now trade on 15 times forecast earnings and offer a prospective yield of 5.2% for 2015/16, including special dividends. The fall in the share price has also enabled NEXT to start buying back its own shares. Unlike most firms, NEXT sets a maximum price for buying back its own shares. This is an approach also used by Warren Buffett and ensures cash isn’t wasted on buybacks when it could be used more profitably elsewhere. The current limit is £69.62. The buyback policy has delivered stunning returns for shareholders. In my view, if NEXT is willing to buy its own shares, they may also offer good value for investors. | the explorer
20/1/2016 20:20 | £60 is the resistance indicator. If that breaches then we will see £53/55.Could happen very quickly as the markets will continue to weaken over the next 11 months. It's like shooting fish in a barrel here.I don't see Simon Wolfsden staying CEO in 2017.Politics beckons for him. IMO of course. | kendonagasaki

05/1/2016 20:45 | Buybacks is the same thing really, increases the share price as less shares in issue. What we really need is an addition of 9 for one issue. About £7 a share with 10 times as many shares. | johndee

05/1/2016 07:20 | Poor online sales blamed on competition."Whilst warm weather may have been the main reason for a difficult fourth quarter, we would not want to allow difficult trading conditions to mask any mistakes and challenges faced by the business. Specifically, we believe that NEXT Directory's disappointing sales were compounded by poor stock availability from October onwards. In addition, the online competitive environment is getting tougher as industry-wide service propositions catch up with the NEXT Directory."Generally average/ poor results blamed on weather. | harebridge
04/1/2016 12:23 | There has been a large fall in the past month, probably about finished, noting however footfall in the UK malls is down 3% over the same period last year ( ie Christmas to New Year week). This may or may not affect NXT as of course online buys tend to be on the rise. | hectorp
