18/10/2010 20:19 | Jon - I decided that the increase in the PO price was the buying opportunity I needed and jumped in at 633p. But was surprised nobody else did! Anyway so far so good. | melody9999

25/9/2010 18:52 | Katie - NBPO is an investment for me - although I do occassionaly punt I will admit. PAL is a little too small to fit my criteria, but I confess it looks "very well priced". Beware however... "...It's far better to buy a wonderful company at a fair price than a fair company at a wonderful price..." Warren Buffett BTW Perhaps this thread might be one of interest to you: Great name BTW. I'll wager that you made up the second part of it up. | thorpematt
25/9/2010 07:58 | PAL are still a cheaper punt. | katie priceless

01/9/2010 13:37 | Original buy rec. was dec 2009 therefore a near 50% profit - hence a "take profits advice is fair enough suppose. | thorpematt
01/9/2010 11:06 | The majority of today's sells came before they marked the price down. This is most of the info I could work out. As part of their tip update the headline was Soft commodities, hard profits - and it's time to take them. "Fairly priced" Then a couple of lines on recent interim results: first half pre-tax profits 10 per cent ahead to $46.1m ( 27% increase in rev., steadily rising palm oil price record production of 949,762 tonnes of fresh fruit, up 23 per cent over the year. | farnesbarnes
01/9/2010 10:50 | What's it saying? - MMs will mark it down if it's negative. Short-termers and traders should've bailed already I would've thought (585 at least). Personally I am happy with the growth (pardon the pun). The biological assets are skewing the results (profit-wise). I reckon short-term we will retrace a tad, but I am looking further and will hold for the next rise. If the Autumn wheat harvest is weak the CPO will rise dramaticaly. In the mid-term I think CPO will continue to be bouyant and long term anything "food" production is an obvious play. Basically I am not gonna trade this. I am happy to live with volatilty. | thorpematt
01/9/2010 08:49 | IC subscribers bailing this am. | farnesbarnes
27/8/2010 09:36 | Thorpe Seems like it's all in the price short term, and if anything maybe it would be healthy for the share price to take a breather and settle at 575ish? Full year profit forecast is GBP70m, so USD46.2m for the first six and using an exchange rate of 1.5 is giving full year profit of GBP60m (roughly). I understand that the harvesting has been hampered by La Nina this half, but last year's halves were about equal in terms of profit. And the weakening dollar isn't helping. But then you've got this: "Cropping levels have been in line with expectations and pleasingly crops are still high at the start of the second half of 2010. Oil production is still some 12% higher than the same period in 2009 although oil extraction rates were disapointing at 22.28%, due largely to unusual rainfall patterns particularly early in the year that affected harvesting rounds at various times as well the lower extraction rates at KPOL, which we expect to significantly improve over the medium term." Nowt spectacular. I'm glad I topsliced recently. | farnesbarnes
27/8/2010 09:23 | Well the market likes them, holding on to substantial recent gains at present, was expecting a bit more selling today after such a good run and a weak general market but holding up well. Should consolidate here for a week or so and let the 20dma catch up after which i'd expect a move to new highs above 620p. Short term target - 750p. | matt123d
27/8/2010 09:16 | FarnesBarnes - I understand your sentiment (and using just 2 words it's not the worst summary I've ever read) BUT now I've read the whole report I have a view. I would say this (using only 2 words):- complex results. (A lot has happened recently). I always look for negatives - there are infact LOADS of plus points, but that's just the way I do it. The one which needs furtheer study is "cost of sales". Trust me I will be digging. however IMHO - I am very upbeat about this stock, | thorpematt
