a bit of recovery since XD, but chart looks weak
several months to wait, if any special divi is paid out

I think so, £10 short term target again. The divi incease limited to RPI may be a little disappointing but that's on top of a yield which is already 4.4% at the current share price.

Let's hope John Pettigrew is as Investor friendly as Steve Holliday was.

little dissapointed increase in divi was below expectation (even if it was average RPI). As mentioned this could be due to regulatory pressure but the regulator must also realise nothing in life is free!

I am also a little disappointed that the Distn Networks which were planned to be disposed of by the end of 2016 will not be returned to shareholders in a form of special dividend until first quarter of 2017!

However, with the Distn networks valued at £11b and Grid hope to retain a 49% stake (for the interim) that makes the part sale valued at approx £5.39 Billion. There is talk that Grid will make an acquisition of another US utility to the value of between £3 - £3.5 Billion leaving £2.39 Billion - £1.89 Billion to be returned to shareholders (maybe more if they shelve the idea to buy another utility).

However, based on the conservative figures above then with 3.7 billion shares in circa this should provide a special divi of between 64.5p - 51p / share. Hopefully more pressing questions on the intent will be made at the AGM!

I've top sliced this morning a bit. In recent years there has been weakness following xd and I hold quite a lot of these. So I am happy if they go down or up from here over the summer which is a nice situation to have

On the other hand, with its international links, when the pound devalues following an exit vote, then the share price will rise.

Interesting... "dividend is slightly below expectations" yeah but still one of the core holdings for any yield portfolio... not many companies with their visibility on long-term earnings

I've held these on and off since privatisation - latest purchase was in 2010 @495p, of which I still hold half.

p o. Brought a couple of years ago at £700 ish topped up around £800 ish. I'm a long term holder seeking the divi. If they drop for no real reason will buy some more if funds allow.

Dividend cover is pretty low of course.
Longer term I am a bit puzzled that they intend to grow assets by 4-7% assuming RPI is 3% but only target dividend increases in line with RPI. That looks as if shareholders will over time receive lower returns on the bigger assets that they are funding.
I suppose this is a sign of regulatory pressure.
I am also puzzled by the proposed return of capital from the partial sale of the Gas network. Profits will also fall so maintaining the divi on the same number of shares will become more difficult. I would not be surprised to see the return in the form of a share buy back or a special divi followed by a share consolidation.
