firminator, I could n't agree more, what would help is more
honesty from the bod and ME in particular, at least
if it was only along the lines we, miscalculated the
time to commercial sales. instead we get either nothing
or totally unreal hints about impending production.

There are articles on qds in scientific journals published everyday. This one is no different.

Mwwh- The article that Syd kindly directed us to declares that this use of QDs in quantum computing is a first. I agree with Syd that, whilst this QD application may have no relevance to Nanoco right now, it raises the whole profile of QDs. Nanoco now has a senior manager for applications and this Q.Computer application will be discussed at Nano. Nigel Pickett is a very bright guy and he must rank as a true world leader in QD research.

Who knows, but, to me, this is a positive. Nano's partnerships with all of Merck, Do/DuPont and Wah Hong give me hope in these new potential applications of QDs. In addition, the more generic QDs become, the more likely the Cadmium restriction will come into play.

Time will tell, but I remain essentially optimistic.

I don't think Nanoco's technology has anything to do with quantum computing at all. Don't get excited over another 'application' which doesn't exist until they have made a go of the original light emitting dots that have millions upon millions invested in development for zero sales to date.

Enteleon: I enjoyed reading your very clear explanation of Quantum Waves. I do remember Edelson recently (within past 2 years) stating in an interview that Nanoco is not doing any work in the Quantum Computing arena. Hopefully, rapidly advancing designs will expose Nanoco to computing related opportunities.

Still doesn't answer the question if anyone is buying are blooming dots. Hopefully not much longer to wait until we find out, one way or the other.

Robotface no relevance to Nanoco but to the industry as a whole with QDs gaining an upper hand in future Computing advencements especially with Quantum computers needing to store information. The really good news for QDs is they could replace the chip.Thank you Enteleton for commenting with an expert intake.

Robotface- there is, as you probably know, an enormous research effort pursuing quantum computing. The quantum world is a very strange place wherein a particle can be in a number of different states, or positions, at any one time. This is called super-position. This effect is derived from the Schroedinger Wave Equation which describes the evolution of a quantum wave, using a combination of real numbers and imaginary numbers.

These super-positions are exceedingly delicate and can be rapidly "decohered" into classical states. This is called "collapse" of the Wave Function and the way the wave collapses becomes a spread of probabilities. Quantum computer engineers want to take advantage of the potentially phenomenal computing speed and breadth of these super-positions and also the extreme delicacy of the super-positional state to give the computer an enormous security advantage. The great challenge is to protect the quantum computer from the environment, which would "collapse" the delicate super-position. The security advantage is that any unwanted intruder (hacker) would decohere the delicate state and prevent intrusion. The potential for quantum computers is enormous.

So, the use of Quantum Dots in quantum computer research extends the "platform" of QD technology. Nanoco is, by Edelman's own admission, a "geeky" company and the potential will not be lost on the bright scientists at Nanoco and elsewhere.

My point is that if you don't like the management and you have no handle on how the business is performing then sell up and move on. Even at a loss. I have completely ignored that advice too many times. And that is why I know it is good advice.

Nanoco is a very speculative proposition. There are a lot of people invested here that don't regard their investment capital as punt money as they have bought higher and feel locked in to losses. However, it is a very risky share to be in simply because no one knows what is going on. It could pay off handsomely, or crash to the point where this lovely solid 40p baseline will be seen as a distant and gut wrenchingly lost opportunity to exit. There are plenty of companies out there winning contracts, delivering product and banking profits. And updating their shareholders.

Who has said the prospects are rosy?

I just said that there's nothing to suggest we are on the brink of oblivion, which some of the daily posts on here would lead us to believe.

I'm already looking forward to tomorrow's posts bemoaning the lack of information and predicting no revenue. They are a great source of enlightenment to us all.

Reminds me of the big bang theory show. Every time Mike gets through a big meeting and blags it.

Howard (MIKE): We’ve hit a bit of a snag. We’re already behind schedule.
Colonel Williams (Share holders): How long do you need?
Howard (MIKE): We, we’re thinking, two years.
Colonel Williams (Share holders): All right.
Howard (MIKE): That’s it? You’re okay with that?
Colonel Williams (Share holders): What, you think you’re the first government contractor who isn’t gonna deliver on time? We’re still waiting for a big space laser Reagan ordered to beat the commies.
Leonard: Thanks for understanding, sir.
Howard (MIKE): Yes, thank you so much.
Sheldon: We, we really appreciate it.
Leonard : All right, pressure’s off
Howard (MIKE): Wanna see a movie?
Sheldon : Popcorn’s on me.

if the prospects are rosy why is their such a churn in the shares?.
if the future is positive no one would be trading, holding tight
on to what they hold, in the full knowledge that they are due
big profits.
not negativity or mischief making but common sense.
also the shorts would have closed eons ago
