Response to Press Comment
NAHL (AIM: NAH), the leading UK marketing and services business focused on the UK consumer legal market, notes the press comment reporting that the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has proposed, as part of the Prisons and Courts Bill unveiled today, to increase the small claims limit for road traffic accident (RTA) claims to GBP5,000 and introduce a new small claims threshold of GBP2,000 for all other personal injury claims.
NAHL, through National Accident Helpline ("NAH"), the Group's PI division, has been fully supportive of the government's work in tackling insurance fraud via its involvement in the Insurance Fraud Task Force and whilst we remain focused on the potential impact on claimants, we welcome the increased clarity provided today.
As previously stated, enquiries generated by NAH are predominately non-RTA related, nevertheless a proportion of these do fall below the proposed GBP2,000 threshold and will require an alternative route to justice. We will examine the impact of the proposed changes with a view to ensuring all claimants have the necessary access to justice and will provide a further update prior to the Group's preliminary results scheduled for 21(st) March.
