14/8/2015 13:06 | Another write up telling us all what we already know together with excessive optimism on commodity prices. | timgw
11/8/2015 08:15 | wasn't there some talk of them contract refining? is it sctually technically feasible to refine platinum and nickel in the same plant? Think I asked this question before......can't remember whether anyone answered..... | thecynical1
07/8/2015 15:11 | No quarterly update and no directors putting their hands in their pockets. Something needs to happen to give this a break like getting rid of some of its assets. If costs don't reduce drastically where is this going? | trevorm2
07/8/2015 11:28 | From above: "Mwana Africa also runs the Freda Rebecca gold mine, where production stagnated in the past year due to equipment failures and problems in accessing high-grade ore zones. These problems have now been rectified and I confidently expect that our underground and surface operations will attain their full potential during the 2016 financial year,” Hoi Ning said. – Tawanda Karombo." And: "Progress has also been made during the period with restarting its nickel smelter facility and kick-starting the Trojan nickel mine. Money to restart the projects was secured through a fully subscribed $20m bond issue. " | asmodeus
02/8/2015 19:53 | Mwana returns to diamonds. I'm beginning to like what I hear from the new board. A change of board, cost cutting and now being proactive in the face of low gold/nickel/copper prices is certainly a step in the right direction. hxxp://www.iol.co.za | mreasygoing
31/7/2015 22:28 | Never mind all that, the burning question now is, Is Cecil now more infamous than Mugabe ? | mreasygoing

31/7/2015 00:44 | Bit of a write up here... | wstirrup
30/7/2015 09:39 | I'd like to see the new directors buy in now to show some commitment here. That might give these a wee lift. Spreads far too wide. Im waiting. | trevorm2
29/7/2015 22:56 | GWR... Unfortunately, to my cost, I have learned it appears that mining engineers appear exceedingly reluctant to try new methods of mining without seeing at first hand how these new approaches can deliver. And whilst the company that produces the device is a mining outfit, when I contacted them, I wanted to find out whether they saw themselves as miners first, or engineers but never really got a satisfactory answer. It reminded me of a really bad episode of Dragon's Den, where nobody gets any money from the Dragons, because the people selling the system have just not thought things through sufficiently well. But the technology, is patented, and under developments for almost 15years. W. | wstirrup
29/7/2015 12:35 | Enter the dragon? Might appeal to the Chinese. Seems a rather clumsy way to bring this up though. | gwr7
29/7/2015 11:35 | Is it just possible, that the lows are either in, or have this period in the region of the lows? Top up time? Having read the RNS, the company noises all seem to be positive. Cash is King, so I would focus on efforts to reduce costs before making investments to expand output. That said, if there are some bargains (resource wise) to be had in the markets, the low prices, at current levels might be an appropriate time to go fishing. If the board reads this thread (which I doubt - but who knows?), they would do well to look seriously at "The Dragon" which is a device using oil (given oil prices too!) to fracture rock after drilling a bore hole, then using the device to super-heat the rock in the hole, causing it to fracture. This allows the miner to mine just the ore veins, and thus this increases the concentrations (g/tonne) reducing costs. Also explosives are not required, so it appears safer, and more rock pillars are left in place meaning fewer supports are needed for the mine roof. On balance it would appear to be a huge money saver. I believe the company who produces it has a distributor in S.A. so not outside the continent for a senior figure to go visit. (but I'd be willing to provide further info via e-mail if anyone is interested.) [Myhandle@ a o l . com] W. | wstirrup
29/7/2015 09:59 | Yes, directors' cash flow forecasts assume an average nickel price of $16,100 per tonne and average gold price of $1,250 per ounce. We're a bit south of those figures then and Q1 won't be setting the heather alight. | mr macgregor
29/7/2015 08:32 | I do not see lots of bad but the metal prices. | odvod
29/7/2015 08:04 | Can't see anything in that report that will make me sell. Things can only improve under new control. New smelter still coming on and HOPEFULLY the Gold & Nickel prices will start back up again soon. | kenone

27/7/2015 08:30 | Massive cost cutting at Freda and Bindura, if only Kalaa had had the balls to do it a few years ago things could have been a lot different. Maybe he was keeping Bob sweet. This could be the turn around now. | trevorm2
26/7/2015 17:18 | Asmodeus, the poster who reported you to advfn was lucky punter. I doubt apfindlay is a pseudonym. lp came across as a ramping nutter, not worthless slime like apf. | gwr7 |
