Nothing specific to add, bd - outlook remains promising, especially since the handset launch which overcomes the obselence obstacle and adds, of course, a decent revenue stream of itself.

I am under the impression that deals have been secured with Royal Mail , Geopost and JCB - can you shed any light on this?

The dog is getting frustrated!

Noticed that there have been a few 100k/+ buys gone through over the last few days. Hopefully a sign that there will be news soon...

No new news unfortunately. Lots of exiting trials, big potential and the like - but, it seems, no company-transforming orders as yet. We'll get the story in a month or so with the release of H1 results.

I think almost certainly, teifi:-). It could really be no other, since how many suppliers would the PO likely trial with? Err, one...

Good spot.

Edit: may have been a bit premature - the trials are likely to go on 'till end of year, but the opportunity is very real...

Pb. Not my sort of reading material, but I am told that an artical appeared in Computer Weekly ( last 2 or 3 weeks? )about the Post Office being close to signing a deal with an un-named supplier for 30,000 handsets to record and transfer data. Linked?

Pb, I agree with the dilution of the original route, and that they are concentrating on more direct routes to market, certainly in the uk, however, from previous posts on this board, there seems to be a common held 'opinion' that they have dropped or passed on from some 'big' projects that were to have more immediate effect. I guess the proof will be in the next set of figures. I do think that the shortage of stock and qty held by co. officers means that the pot still simmers.......

teifi:

I suspect ITO pays MBT market rates for the licence to use MBT technology for its own mobile managed services offering, so yes (I believe) the connection fee is all MBT's. But ITO's customer base is just a start, and even if ITO enjoys special rates it doesn't alter the bigger picture.

The connection fee is a throwaway figure from a private communication - but it sounds reasonable; why wouldn't BT or the Post Office or TNT pay a fiver a month for instant (collective) communication with each of their mobile workforce?

The big licence fees would come from telecoms operators adopting the technology en masse; this route has proved unproductive, so MBT is pushing ahead with a direct service offering - hence the focus on individual connection fees.

MBT has not abandoned the former route to market; indeed, there remains a lot of interest in this proposition from US second tier operators. But MBT doesn't want to hang around for 'big ticket' decisions of this nature. So it has invested big time in developing the software to offer the service themselves.

Interesting times, as they say....

Good post Pb. Question, you work your figures on a fee of £ 5 per connection. Does this all end up in MBT's bucket, or do they have to pay ITO a % of this? Or rather does MBT get a % for holding the license? Where did the £ 5 come from ( sorry if I missed a previous post ) and are we sure its £'s not euro's? Is the connection split between a one off payment and then a monthly rental?

Strange one for you all. A friend and fellow mbt holder was contacted by his broker 2 days ago to see if he would sell his shares. Assumption that there is a shortage of stock? Further assumption that mm's are trying to shake a few free at the moment?

One would have thought so big dog, but I'm also somewhat confused by this sudden rise! Is it the that the AGM has been pushed to May 2009?, or is the mild mannered janitor in town?
