14/5/2008 16:10 | paying 15p for stock now. Drop was overdone (see my post yesterday for info). No reason for it to be down there, the statement was not that bad at all? no "placing" as some suggested either. | seanmiller
14/5/2008 08:33 | drop looks well overcooked from yesterday imo...should see a recovery today imo... | pre
14/5/2008 00:24 | LOL! - good luck with the short term punt then - I've been badly hurt catching falling knives in the past, but equally, I've probably had as many 'lucky bounces' on bombed-out stocks too. I do think that there are some less risky investments around in over-sold stocks at the moment though... | thecurrymonster
13/5/2008 23:00 | unfortunately I agree with you.... | unionhall
13/5/2008 22:48 | unionhall - I was tempted to join you, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Today's drop may well be a bit overdone in the short term, but I'm not convinced that bigger picture is very rosy at the moment. I was always of the opinion that this needed some big design-in contracts rather than dribs and drabs - it needs to have a 'killer application', and I just don't see that coming at the moment. I think it's probably gone on long enough now that if there really was a killer app now, then the likes of Samsung SDI probably already have the technology 'in the bag' anyway. Doom and gloom all round for the forseeable future unless a big contract comes soon IMHO . :-( | thecurrymonster
13/5/2008 22:31 | Bought some this morning - not my best thought out investment - but may recoup some of the losses if they come good next year..... | unionhall
13/5/2008 17:04 | "Also, check the other news re: placing and requirement for capital. The RNS dated 22/8/08 (bloody recent) shuld sum it up" Very recent, we haven't got there yet..... | wild bill
13/5/2008 16:22 | lol, there we go. Up as usual ;) | seanmiller
13/5/2008 14:56 | month on month profit will mean that unless they ignore their debtors and ask them not to pay they will be generating positive cash. It depends how they arrive at their "profit" wording in the statament. If it is net profit then they will generate cash, if that is gross profit then you need to know the overhead costs before you can assume anything. But if a company generates net profit then as long as their 'credit control team' is doing their job then the cash will result. If they assume a pre-tax year end profit then this should assume all write downs/wrote offs, all COS's, and O'heads and anything else for that matter, prior to filing to HMRC and CH. If profit is there on the filed accounts then cash WILL generate lol (unless like I said they cant be bothered to collect from debtors). The only other reason is if they pay back loans, but they owe £387k at last look on short term debt! with 6m in the bank, so not that then lol Also, check the other news re: placing and requirement for capital. The RNS dated 22/8/08 (bloody recent) shuld sum it up. Still think this is overdone. The NAV is 10m so - of 21p per share as at 31st December, market cap today stands at 5.2M. Also, they lost 6.3m last year and have 6.3m in the bank, so should last them until December 2008 roughly, question is, is that long enough. all an opinion, there are share options also @10p I'll wait and see if the price corrects slightly before jumping in - and I'll promise to tell when I sell, cos 8trader is watching lol ;) | seanmiller
13/5/2008 14:35 | shame, good product. Reminds me of the Calluna days | hyper al
13/5/2008 14:32 | Not sure re placing, and will be very interested in cash burn figures. I'd have expected a build up to breakeven, but I'm not sure even that will happen. Added to that the expenses involved in material costs as business builds (if), I think another rights issue is likely. Good product, solid production, but not selling by the looks of it. | naeclue
13/5/2008 12:37 | Of course there will be a placing, :- month on month profitability envisaged in 2009, and how much is that likely to be ...no figures as usual, in the mean time they will continue to burn cash at a nice rate , fancy blaming the sales guy, clearly the product is not exciting to many large potential customers!! | jotoha1
13/5/2008 12:36 | Profitability has moved out. My guess is that the headsets were hoped to be a big deal around Christmas time. I'd imagine planning for production would be around now for that market, and orders haven't materialized, (credit crunch hasn't helped), and they are looking to be next years big trend. I would have thought gamers would love this stuff, disappointed it hasn't worked out for them. | naeclue
13/5/2008 10:36 | There is no mention of placing or cashflow concerns? not sure exactly why it bombed "month on month profitability" lol, better than month on month losses!! | seanmiller
13/5/2008 10:32 | You know what Sean, I tend to agree with you and if you read 509, 510 and 511 above they ALL end their posts with an (almost) positive spin. On the other hand, if you go to post 19 and read a few posts after it, it's kinda spooky, some Gypsy blood in them folks, sort of predicting the future etc.... | wild bill
13/5/2008 10:25 | The statement isn't actually that bad lol. | seanmiller
13/5/2008 10:15 | Sean, they have said nothing about a placing. But this is a well-worn scenario. Think cashflow. But as always DYOR. | skyracer
13/5/2008 10:15 | seanmiller - I think he's second guessing what may happen next..... | wild bill
13/5/2008 10:06 | Can you provide a link to where it sais "placing" please ;) I can't find it? | seanmiller
13/5/2008 09:59 | Skyracer - 3 Jun'05 - 08:41 - 19 of 512 edit Yet another Scottish failure developing? Rushing to become a plc and pushing products into production before they are ready. Very expensive mistake to make. Still, advisors and directors always manage to get away with plenty of loot. No doubt one of the LEC's also had a grubby finger in this pie too. Remember Memory Corp, Magnum Power, NMT, Calluna, Creos, and plenty others I cant remember at the moment? No wonder I never invest in scottish companies (Alf's EDG excepted). At the time the price was 150p! This was always, always, very high risk. Three years later and we are still talking about "potential customers" and the share price is 12p. Anyone buying into this thinking it is now "cheap" is ignoring the devastating word "placing". It wont be cheap after a huge placing at eg 7p PS To the above list you could now add DAG and Medisys. (Rant over) | skyracer
13/5/2008 09:38 | Might be worth a small gamble here at under 13p for brave new punters! Good luck all. | barn owl
13/5/2008 09:26 | Oh dear - another UK tech company that disappoints. I assumed we'd taken our credit crunch happy slap in the fall to 25p. I think there are 60M shares so MCap of 7-8M. I suppose if this was a company on the way up we would see 1) Technology that has been developed and works 2) Manufacturing sorted 3) Design Wins leading to sales agreements with 3 headset makers. 4) Sales - real genuine sales. Not many UK Tech companies can say they actually sell their products. 5) 9 further design wins which may (should?) lead to more sales. 6) Talks with camera makers so another market segment (not just headsets hopefully). 7) Monthly profit next year. Not bad for £7.5M or so. Might as well look on bright side (or crystalise the loss). | srsm
13/5/2008 08:54 | Not looking good at all here... Doesn't look like it's going bust just yet, so maybe a good buying opportunity coming up... | thecurrymonster
13/5/2008 08:53 | That's it for me, should have jumped shipped ages ago, but wanted to wait for the AGM. That'll teach me..... Looks like they focussed on eyeglasses only and abandoned other markets to me. I guess this is not a climate where new products are launched aggressively. Not thrilled with lack of replacement for the guy in charge of sales. Worried about cash flow. Other than that it all looks great! | naeclue
09/5/2008 15:52 | Hi WB, Cayman is a nice diving venue, but I'm in no hurry to return. Grand Cayman is over-developed and too americanised. There are also too many american tourists and cruise passengers ('The Boat People') for my liking. The local people are great, and the local food is excellent but difficult to find - beaches are nice and the weather is OK, although there are some showers most days. The diving was the main reason for my visit, and it's pretty ood - I would say that it is especisally good for novice divers, as safety is taken very seriously and most of the dive sites are safe and easy. Depth is restricted (by the government) to maximum of 30-40m, so technical diving is not really an option. You have to do some research to find the best dive boats and guides, and there are some excellent tunnels and caves to dive, but many of the day boats only do the easy dive sites because a lot of the divers are 'vacation' divers, with little experience. Similarly, I had trouble finding people who wanted to do night dives, so I only managed a couple of night dives in two weeks. Nice break though, and despite not checking the portfolio daily, I missed surprising little! Sorry for the O/T... MED is still on the watchlist for me and I don't see any great reasons to be buying back in here at the moment. | thecurrymonster |
