18/8/2007 08:06 | i disagree. the share price corresponds to the NAV quite closely (albeit with a c.10% discount), but in these turbulent markets it can lose touch a little one way or the other. the portfolio is designed to track and better its benchmark, the HSBC Global Mining Index, and i suspect that this index is the primary factor in intraday price moves. reporting NAV just one day in arrears is a model of transparency imo. from being an absolute bargain, even trading at a discount from time to time in recent weeks, the warrants now represent appallingly bad technical value. being well in the money as they have been, they should have been moving something like penny for penny with the shares in recent weeks, but from their high point on july 23, the shares have lost 110p and the warrants only 50p. we now have the situation that 70p of the 107p warrant price is time value. all things being equal, this is unsustainable imo. | archieandrews
17/8/2007 17:20 | coincall: I will watch on Monday, but the NAV will go which ever way that Blackrock want it to, in the same way that it has done for the last few weeks - this is not a kosher share anymore. | nephin
17/8/2007 17:16 | Nephin, The NAV shown today was for the close of business on the 16th, so see Monday's NAV for todays NAV. | coincall
17/8/2007 17:11 | The world miners (the ones that this share is alledged to hold) have made a strong recovery today and yet the NAV on this thing has tanked. I don't hold any of these any more but if I did I would be very upset at the way that the spivs at Blackrook are rooking everybody by manipulating the NAV and creating a false market.. | nephin
15/8/2007 08:00 | hi Nephin, i believe we posted on board for that Russian investment trust some time ago - I forget the epic code ! Yes, I am sure that plenty of spivs see easy pickings as they do with OZ spec stocks which fall more quickly than market when dow tanks ! I see that the share price is now trading at a more normal discout of about 70p but chart looks ominous unless base metal prices rally . warrants could really tumble as you say and i hope you were able to get out . Good luck. AQP is really holding up well although fell in OZ market. One to watch if dow recovers i think but marlets so volatile at present !! | arja
13/8/2007 18:21 | arja: You're quite right about this share, just look at the way that the NAV has been artificially pushed down today.I expect that the reason for it is in some way connected to extra fees for Blackrock (that's the normal motive for these spivs) I sold most of my warrants last week @ 130P and the few that I have left will be dumped in the morning at the bell. This share must be the most scary IT on the LSE - I'm glad to be out of it. | nephin
13/8/2007 13:03 | The miners are having a good day today, but this one isn't - it's the dog of the day in my portfolio. | nephin
13/8/2007 06:42 | could drop much more as discount to NAV has narrowed ! dangerous stock to trade at present but probably good in long term when base metal prices recover. | arja
10/8/2007 15:39 | The drop today is the most savage drop that I have ever seen in an IT, Let's hope that it can stay above 500p | nephin
06/8/2007 14:32 | ....& sb closed !! | gurp
06/8/2007 12:27 | amazing how warrant price has held up - I sold some at 137 when physical was much higher ! 8% discount is a worry if thinking about buying as often much higher discount to NAV ! | arja
06/8/2007 10:56 | certainly seem to be big miners fighting back, mlw now c8% disc & indicators looking ok & chart down around support level added tentatively......... | gurp
06/8/2007 07:33 | WARRANTS very expensive? Intrisic value just 95p | wyken
03/8/2007 07:43 | edging up anyway !! | arja
03/8/2007 07:19 | but discount to NAV has narrowed ! So may be hard for share price to power ahead even with base metal stocks moving higher early on ! | arja
01/8/2007 11:39 | The NAV is climbing back up again | nephin
31/7/2007 09:57 | We're back in the saddle today guys. | nephin
25/7/2007 08:18 | warrants are strange creature ! now trading with quite a bit of time value which is unusual. They could drop sharply if base metal stocks do not recover soon!! | arja
20/7/2007 10:14 | Warrants at a new high today | nephin
19/7/2007 22:25 | I've maintained at least a minimum mlw holding for years as a lower risk mining play & hope that the discount to nav would narrow esp when in favour. took warrants recently at c100p for some gearing (regretfully only a few since concerned that the limited conversion date might be disadvantageous), well done to those that waded in. certainly been in demand warrants great if the share does well but vv, do need to be careful, risky - yes, scum - certainly not | gurp
19/7/2007 20:49 | gurp: I know that the financial press always treat warrants as though they are risky scum but an I.T. warrant is only as risky as the the share that is attatched to, and in my humble opinion MLW is a sound share, and as you rightly say this one has done very well over the past, and it's not too shaby now. Onwards & Upwards, hopefully. The Dow has just gone through 14000, we could have a good end to the week. | nephin
19/7/2007 14:25 | Nephin - the best time was a few years ago !! warrants more than trebled since April 07 now depends on the overall market | gurp
18/7/2007 08:39 | thanks coincall | gryphon2
17/7/2007 09:34 | sold out on friday last weeek expecting a correction. Must look at the warrants .. thanks Archie. Do you have an epic code for them?? | gryphon2 |
