22/6/2016 15:27 | On a remain vote hoping we will be at £4.20 plus, NAV continuing to move ahead and may get another nice lift tomorrow as some of their main holdings are nicely Up today. | essentialinvestor
22/6/2016 13:38 | Joe, the value of the UKX is a big factor for MRCH NAV, many of the holdings are multinationals yes. HSBA is a top 10 holding as you may be aware. | essentialinvestor
22/6/2016 13:33 | Is it really true? Or perhaps global exporters (which are held in the trust) will benefit from a cheaper pound? | joe say
22/6/2016 13:00 | Added a few, if we vote to stay this is going to look cheap IMV, he reverse also applies!. | essentialinvestor
21/6/2016 12:34 | We are nearly 900 points below the 2015 UKX peak, MRCH is UK focused and also utilises gearing, their main holdings are all UKX constituents. It will be hit hard on any UK market sell off. Would only consider investing in MRCH with a longer term view. | essentialinvestor
21/6/2016 12:12 | Bought SHRS last week at 193. The discount is so much better than MRCH. | deadly
20/6/2016 17:20 | Hope to see them start to reduce GSK, the weighting is too high imv. Wish I got a few more around 3.85 last week. 34 unbroken years of dividend growth, all be it very modest in the recent past. | essentialinvestor
20/6/2016 17:16 | good rise today but a long way to go to reach the heights of £5+ ,hopefully the value stocks with good dividends will soon be back in fashion and we will see a good return from mrch and also shrs | tel5
20/6/2016 14:14 | MRCH have been increasing their LLOY holding, hope they took advantage of last weeks prices. | essentialinvestor
20/6/2016 11:21 | I know it's off thread......been picking up some MXF . | redips2
20/6/2016 08:19 | Just under 3.85 was my lowest buy last week, not a chance to add under £4 this AM, it was looking cheap. | essentialinvestor
16/6/2016 22:41 | Came close to adding SHRS today, 193.75 was the lowest on the offer, which ended as the closing bid. The NAV may fall again on tomorrow's daily update, so will keep on my monitor. | essentialinvestor
16/6/2016 21:42 | Both also at useful discounts to nav even with debt at market value. Looking like useful components of an imcome portfolio providing you think that markets will in time get over current negative obsessions - I have just added both. | shalder
16/6/2016 20:53 | Yields are about the same now. | essentialinvestor
16/6/2016 20:02 | I know this is the MRCH thread, but just to say that I think SHRS got hammered a few years back because of lots of expensive gearing. Today the gearing is very moderate and also a chunk is fixed rate and the average cost is less than 2%. They do still have large exposure to financials but there will be a point at which these have recovery potential. | shalder
16/6/2016 11:05 | Increased my holding by 25% at 3.8648 Under 3.80 would be lovely. | essentialinvestor
16/6/2016 10:12 | 388.6 today, hopefully lower down available. | essentialinvestor
15/6/2016 22:24 | Use to be in SHRS, after 2008. They have a large exposure to finance/banking shares/bonds, and got hammered in 2008. This is why I have avoided them. Their second tire shares are the same as MRCH, Shell, GKS, etc. | 11_percent
15/6/2016 17:19 | Nabbed a small amount at 3.896. Looked at SHRS today and may be tempted. Would be surprised if this market weakness is over, unless opinion polls start to turn for Remain. | essentialinvestor
15/6/2016 17:14 | hold both mrch and shrs , the dividend is paid quarterly both about 6% at the current prices , so even if vote is for out and market drops another 5% the dividend will compensate at least in short term | tel5
15/6/2016 11:32 | I have 374.5 at the 12 month low, the buying price may have been higher and that price may have been available for a very short time only. | essentialinvestor
15/6/2016 10:48 | SHRS also have small cap exposure from memory, need to check their factsheet. | essentialinvestor
15/6/2016 10:37 | People want balance. I am in both trusts. Shires does not have the same asset profile as Merchants. | rcturner2
15/6/2016 10:35 | Can't see the attraction here over say Shires trust which has a 13% discount and 6.3% yield, and is largely in UK equities. | deadly |
