NEWS RELEASE FEBRUARY 16, 2006
MAWSON STAKES SJAULE URANIUM PROJECT, SWEDEN
Vancouver, Canada ¡V Mawson Resources Limited (¡§Mawson¡¨ or the ¡§Company¡¨)

Michael Hudson, President & CEO, announces that the Company has staked the Sjaule uranium project in Sweden. Uranium mineralization at Sjaule lies upon the same structural lineament which hosts Mawson¡¦s high grade Flistjärn project. The project area is contained within the 201 hectare Sjaule nr 1 exploration permit in the County of Jämtland in Northern Sweden.

Sjaule was discovered by the Swedish Geological Survey during a five year program initiated in 1975 to evaluate Sweden¡¦s self-sufficiency with respect to uranium, financed by the Svensk Kärnbränsleförsorjning AB or Swedish
Nuclear Fuel Supply Company (¡§SKBF¡¨). Uranium rich peat samples were collected in the area in 1975, radiometrics flown in 1976, followed by mapping and sampling which defined the outcropping uranium mineralization. Twenty-eight samples across the project area were measured with a gamma radiation detector and, as was the protocol at the time, only a small number were subsequently assayed by XRF methods to calibrate the field measurements. Five samples assayed from the area by the Swedish Geological Survey in 1976, ranged
from 0.005% U3O8 to 0.57% U3O8 and averaged 0.22% U3O8. The project was due to be drilled tested when the Swedish Government stopped its uranium exploration program.

Mineralization at Sjaule is hosted by a structurally-imbricated block of Precambrian microgranite, breccia, mylonite and Paleozoic sediments. Mineralization is hosted in north east trending and steeply dipping fractures zones
over an area of 700m by 950m. The main mineralized structure defined with a gamma radiation detector is 20 metres wide and 300 metres long zone. Individual fractures are up to 5mm wide and the distance between them varies from 10cm to several metres. Uranium mineralization is characterized by concentric layered spherules of pitchblende up to 0.2mm in diameter and brannerite. The project remains to be drill tested. A map of the area can be found at

Mr Michael Hudson, President & CEO, states, ¡§The high-grade Sjaule project was considered by Swedish governmental geologists in the 1970¡¦s to be the most prospective project within the Hotagen inlier. The Company is extremely
pleased to expand its uranium project portfolio with a project that has demonstrated high uranium grades over a large area at surface. Field work will commence in spring and will consist of surface sampling and radon-cap surveys with the aim of delineating drill targets in the short term.¡¨

Ten nuclear power reactors provide approximately 50% of Sweden¡¦s electricity. Swedish mining legislation allows exploration for uranium and places no special restriction on mining where the uranium grade is less than 200 ppm or the production is less than 5 kg. When higher uranium grades are present, permitting will follow a process concerning "nuclear technical activity". Such permitting must pass before the Swedish government for decision making.

McBean

This is a back of the envelope valuation of what is in the ground - and it is going to be rubbery as I dont have current REE prices - I am using 1995 ones

Size of resource: 75m to 150 m tonnes (call it 110m tonnes)
U308 grade = 0.04% = 44000 tonnes = 97m lbs uranium oxide @$35/lb = US$3.4bn
P2O5 contained: 5.63mt @ US$45/t = US$255m
REE contained: 0.12%/tonne @ US$30/t value in ground = US$3.3bn

This is theoretically an $8bn in ground resource - a world class asset. It needs drilling, modelling and metallurgical testing to make it into a mineable deposit but if we are just arm waving in ground metal values, this is a whopper.

MAWSON STAKES TÅSJÖ URANIUM - RARE EARTH PROJECT, SWEDEN
Vancouver, Canada ¡V Mawson Resources Limited (the ¡§Company¡¨ or ¡§Mawson¡¨) TSXv-MAW; Frankfurt-MRY.
Mr Michael Hudson, President & CEO is pleased to announce the staking of a 100% interest in the 5047.5 hectare Tåsjö uranium ¡V rare earth element (¡§REE¡¨) ¡V phosphate (¡§P2O5¡¨) project. Tåsjö is located in the Jämtland and Västerbotten
counties, 200 kilometres north of the town of Östersund in Northern Sweden.

The area was discovered in 1957 by the Swedish Atomic Energy Company using a vehicle-borne scintillometer. Subsequently, the area was explored in the early 1970¡¦s by the Swedish Geological Survey and the Stora Kopparberg and Boliden
companies. A total of approximately 100 exploration drillholes have been drilled in the Tåsjö field over a 200 square kilometre area. The mineralized horizon is a 3 to 10 metre thick phosphatic calcareous sandstone of Lower Ordovician age (the ¡§host sandstone¡¨). Uranium mineralization is associated with the phosphate bearing mineral apatite, which constitutes 9 to 20% of the rock and calculations indicate that the uranium grade of the apatite is 0.16%.

Based on the report, ¡§Geological Investigations in the Tåsjö area in 1963 and 1964¡¨ by G. Armands of the Swedish Atomic Energy Company it is estimated that 75 to 150 million tonnes exist within the Tåsjö field at a grade between 0.03% to 0.07% U3O8, 0.11% to 0.24% REE and 3.75% to 7.5% P2O5.

Total contained metal within the field is estimated between 104 to 116 million pounds of U3O8, 165,000 to 180,000 tonnes of REE and 5.63 million tonnes of P2O5.

The host sandstone unit occurs in two northeast orientated subcropping trends, each approximately 15 kilometres in length. Mawson has claimed approximately 80% of the subcropping host sandstone in the Tåsjö field. The exploration target estimates above are based on the aforementioned report. The potential quantity and grade indicated is conceptual in nature, there has been insufficient exploration to define the target at this time and it is uncertain that further exploration will result in the definition of a resource.

Additional information and maps of the Tåsjö field can be found at

The Tåsjö field is geologically analogous to the Florida Phosphorite Uranium Province, which contains the largest uranium resources in North America. In Florida, uranium occurs in carbonate-fluor-apatite at a grade of 0.007¡V0.0125% U3O8 (average 0.009%) and has been recovered as a by-product in the manufacture of phosphoric acid fertilizer. In 1988, two phosphoric acid manufacturing plants recovered approximately two million pounds of U3O8 (21% of U.S. production for 1988) from the phosphate rock mined in Florida.
Mr Hudson states, ¡§The near-surface exploration target at Tåsjö is vast. This project underpins Mawson¡¦s developing uranium portfolio and holds the potential to host a world-class uranium deposit, with significant rare earths credits.¡¨
The company has applied for 12 exploration permits for a total area of 5047.5 hectares. To date seven permits areas have been granted: Kronotorpet nr 1 (199.99 hectares), Bodkullarna nr 1 (154.05 hectares) and Tåsjö nr 1 to 5 (2956.9 hectares).

Five permits, Tåsjö nr 6 to 10 (1736.1 hectares), remain under application and are expected to be granted soon.

The qualified person for the Tåsjö project, Mark Saxon, Mawson¡¦s VP-Exploration and Director, and a member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, has reviewed and verified the contents of this release.

MAWSON DRILLING TRIPLES GOLD MINERALIZED AREA AND
DISCOVERS BONAZA GRADE GOLD BOULDERS AT MIDDAGSBERGET, SWEDEN

Vancouver, Canada ¡V Mawson Resources Limited (¡§Mawson¡¨) TSXv ¡V MAW; Frankfurt ¡V MRY. Mr Michael Hudson, President & CEO is pleased to announce results from the Phase 2 drilling program and surface sampling from the Middagsberget gold project in Northern Sweden. Middagsberget lies within a 13 kilometre mineralized trend, which includes the Company¡¦s Fäbodliden and Vargbäcken gold projects. Mineralization at Vargbäcken, where the Company is currently drilling, lies 4 kilometres north-east from Middagsberget.

Sixteen RC drill holes for a total of 1171 metres were completed in the Middagsberget area. Results are available for nine of these holes that tested the immediate strike extensions of the Middagsberget prospect. Seven additional drill
holes for 405 metres tested semi-regional surface geochemical anomalies within 1.2 km of the Middagsberget prospect.

By applying a 0.5 g/t gold lower cut-off grade best results include:
• RC09: 5m at 3.5 g/t gold from 20m, including 1m at 12.0 g/t gold;
• RC12: 1m at 12.9 g/t gold from 57m
• RC13: 2m at 4.1 g/t gold from 34m
• RC14: 4m at 1.5 g/t gold from 63m
• RC15: 2m at 3.0 g/t gold from 42m
• RC20: 6m at 1.1 g/t gold from 25m

Gold mineralization has now been drill delineated over an area of 300 metres by 100 metres. Mineralization remains open at depth and to the northwest and southeast along the interpreted trend of the system. Mineralization begins at
15m depth, immediately below the soil cover and extends to the limit of RC drilling at 80m depth.

At Middagsberget North, 550m north-west along strike from Middagsberget, surface sampling has discovered a 250m long bonanza-grade gold mineralized boulder train. Individual grab samples from five large and angular boulders up
1m3 averaged 19.7 g/t gold with values ranging from 0.01 g/t gold to 60.8 g/t gold. Other significant results included 34.0 g/t gold and 13.9 g/t gold from separate boulders. These results are located 250m to the south-west and down-ice direction from previously announced boulder sampling which included 4m @ 19.1 g/t gold (Mawson News Release 6 Sept 2005).

Mr Hudson comments, ¡§We are encouraged that the current drill program has tripled the gold mineralized area at Middagsberget. The prospect remains open both along strike and at depth. The numerous locally sourced high grade gold boulders located 550 metres north-west along the same mineralized trend demonstrate the scale of the system.

Their presence suggests that higher grades remain to be discovered within this expanding gold system. Our next drill program at Middagsberget will target the source of these boulders.¡¨

FLISTJARN HIGH GRADE URANIUM PROJECT GRANTED
Vancouver, Canada ¡V Mawson Resources Limited (¡§Mawson¡¨) TSXv ¡V MAW;

Mr Michael Hudson, President & CEO, is pleased to announce the granting of the 200 hectare Flistjärn nr 1 exploration permit by the Swedish Mining Inspectorate (Bergstatten) for a term of three years. As described in the Mawson News Release dated August 23, 2005, historical sampling by the Swedish Geological Survey encountered high uranium oxide grades in 1977. Ten samples assayed from a fracture network over an area of 600m by 550m, ranged from 0.07% U3O8 to 21.06% U3O8 and averaged 5.5% U3O8.

Uranium mineralization at Flistjärn lies on the south-western extension of a 14 kilometre long lineament which hosts a number of uranium prospects. The vein style mineralization at Flistjärn is hosted by a structurally-bound block of
Paleozoic sediments within Precambrian volcanics, in the County of Jämtland close to the Norwegian border. Mineralization is characterized by vein fill of colloform pitchblende with lesser pyrite, chalcopyrite and silver-rich galena.
The two principal mineralized structures dip sub-vertically and trend in a north-easterly direction for over 600 metres and 250 metres respectively. Each structure is comprised of veins and fractures across a total width of up to 2 metres.
Other uranium occurrences exist in structures perpendicular to the main fracture network, parallel to the thrust which divides the Paleozoic and Precambrian age sequences.

A map of the area can be found at

Surface rock chip sampling and geological mapping at Flistjärn will commence within the next month once appropriate stakeholder approvals have been sought.

Summary
Mawson Resources Ltd is a TSX.v listed exploration company which has rapidly expanded as a leading explorer in the mining districts of Northern Sweden. The company holds large tracts of under explored claims and advanced bonanza-grade gold and uranium projects.

Sweden provides Mawson with the combination of under-explored highly prospective areas, world class targets and a well established mining industry in a politically stable country.  Sweden is the largest gold producer in the EU15 and contains 15% of the world¡¦s uranium resources.

The company is a low market cap stock with significant multi-commodity assets managed by experienced team with a track record of project discovery and development.

Projects
Mawson Resources is the largest property holder in the Skellefte gold mining district of Northern Sweden with in excess of 76,000 Ha of claims. Regional geology and gold mineralization of this district match two of the largest gold fields in the world; Timmins, Ontario and the Golden Mile in Western Australia.
Mawson controls 60 km of the 130 km long Skellefte ¡§Gold Line¡¨. This trend is an emerging gold camp, which already contains one operating gold mine and two gold projects in final feasibility. Mawson¡¦s Gold Line projects present multi-million ounce gold potential, where large tracts of under explored ground have been secured along strike from major gold project.

2 Year Uranium ..... 5 Year Gold

Gold Projects
Six bonanza-grade gold projects have been drilled or sampled along a 13 km trend at the Company¡¦s Vargbäcken-Middagsberget Gold Camp. These projects provide Mawson with potential to generate short-term cash flow from open pittable gold mineralization and include:

Vargbäcken: Two drilling programs completed over the last 12 months, with higher grade mineralization discovered from surface to 150m depth along 350m of strike. Results include 3m at 10.4 g/t gold from 38m, 10m at 8.6 g/t gold from 57m and 14m at 19.8 g/t gold from 70m. Initial mining studies are now underway.

Middagsberget: Located 4 kilometres from Vargbäcken, a Phase 1 drilling program was completed in July 2005. Gold was discovered in every drillhole, including 29m @ 1.37 g/t gold and 4m @ 5.79 g/t gold. Mineralization extends from 15m depth to the limit of drilling at 80m and remains open in all directions.
Middagsberget North: Located 1 kilometre to the north-west of Middagsberget and approximately one third of the way along the 3 kilometre long Middagsberget-Fä;bodliden gold trend. Best results from surface sampling include 4m at 19.1 g/t gold.

Gold Line Projects: Mawson's field crews are currently exploring the Company¡¦s vast 76,000 hectare, 100% owned property portfolio. Angesdal, the Company¡¦s first Gold Line project in the 100% owned Ormberget nr 1 claim area, is only 7 km from the 1.9 million ounce Fäboliden project.  Angesdal covers 23km of strike along the same magnetic structure as the 1.9 million ounce Fäboliden project.
Surface geochemical sampling is also underway on three additional Gold Line projects immediately along strike from gold mines or advanced projects.

Uranium Projects
Sweden generates 50% of its power from 10 nuclear reactors, but has no active uranium mining despite having 15% of the world¡¦s uranium resources. Politics are changing rapidly and it is likely that a uranium mine could be permitted in the near future there.

The focus exploration prospect is Flistjärn. Historical surface sampling encountered high grade U3O8 in ten samples from a fracture network up to 2m wide over an area of 600m by 550m, taken by the Swedish Geological Survey in 1977, ranging from 0.07 % U3O8 to 21.06 % U3O8 and averaged 5.5 % U3O8. Results from this project are due shortly.
The Duobblon uranium project contains an historical resource of 11.56 million pounds of U3O8 (non NI43-101 compliant). Better drill intersections include 9m for 0.063 % U3O8 from 149.5m and 2.6m @ 0.072 % U3O8 from 161m.
