Oxus find Uzbekistan partner, may be very significant.

"
LONDON: 30 November 2006 - Oxus Gold plc ('Oxus' or the 'Company') (OXS.L)
announces that it has signed a subscription agreement with Zeromax, Uzbekistan's
largest private-sector company, that brings Zeromax into Oxus as a strategic
investor and alliance partner. Zeromax has agreed to invest £12,255,000 through
a private placement of 57,000,000 new ordinary shares at 21.5p per share
representing 16.1% of an enlarged Oxus share capital base. Some 8,550,000 shares
are being subscribed for by 6 December 2006, and the remainder shall be
subscribed for by 10 January 2007

The "Report" is anything but a report. It is just the minimum legal requirement. If this company survives after MARCH 2007 (12 months after Mr. Trew's resignation), I'll be very surprised. Oxus will grab the assets. Why else is it necessary to have the loan secured on Marakand's assets, when Oxus can dismiss the "Board" and direct MKD to do as it wishes?

For me the auditors' use of the words "absolutely" and "strongly" say it all:

"The valuation included in the consolidated company balance sheet is absolutely dependent on the successful development of economic reserves including the ability to raise sufficient finance to develop the project. In this respect we strongly draw attention to further detail given in note 9."

The auditors are covering their backs.

Thanks OTD. I received the OXS annual report yesterday, or the day before, but haven't had the MKD one yet.

The homepage is online again:

It is not really clear to me why it was offline for so long, not too many changes (at first sight)...

The annual report is also online.

Cezary, I was thinking along the same lines. Seems such an obvious investment that I'm still looking for the catch. What is it?

Closing prices

MKD bid 3.75p offer 4.25p

OXS bid 9.00p offer 10.00p

If the directors wanted to be really cute they could offer a 2 for 1 conversion
(2 MKD for 1 OXS) and award themselves retrospective compensation.

That would please phillis, bonus OXS shares to sell !

Situation looks dire for OXS, will soon be same price as MKD.

Yes Cezary, you may be right.

Time for OXS to make a bigger loan to MKD!

As I said there is much to say for your theory. I guess I am optimistic by nature. Having compensated my loss in MKD with profits by other explorers also helps. You canĀ“t win them all...

I will not be able to attend the AGM (do not live in the UK), could you please post your impressions? Thanks!

OTD, "At the moment I have no reason to distrust management." I am glad to hear that. I shall certainly attend the AGM, and ask a lot of questions, and I shall seek out the auditors too (if they attend), provided the company doesn't go bust first, which it may do. It is a dog-eat-dog world in my experience, and if MKD and OXS have been cheated by the Uzbek Govt., then there may be a temptation for them to cheat us. It may of course just be the case my views have been affected by the disastrous share price performance, but it is also the case that putting a company into administration is a valid (cheap?) way of getting rid of an awkward minority holding. I remain deeply suspicious about the removal of the web site of course.

Nobull, I did ask the company a few weeks ago about the homepage. JS said that they wanted to remove some older stuff and add more Turkey, with apologies. If I recall the email correctly. For the moment I believe her version and assume that they are just slow. But there is much to say for your theory (why get the old version offline, when working on a new one?). It would be a shame if they try to screw the last remaining shareholders for a few pennies (the remaining shares are not worth that much, even when oxus needs all the money it can get). If the corporate culture is like that, it could also explain why some negotiations are not going that well for Oxus...

Future will tell. At the moment I have no reason to distrust management. I still hold a few shares, but see them (at least at this moment) more as lottery tickets than as a serious investment.

It is possible they don't want to promote this company anymore, OTD. We are totally dependent on the goodwill of the directors for survival, and they have rescued themselves (Oxus bought their shares), and Mr. Trew has resigned from the company. Oxus has made a loan to MKD, which can of course be withdrawn any time. I still hold, but am utterly terrified it will go bust.
