The Times said yesterday that the price rize was on 'vague rumours that Fortress would be bought out'

I don't see a fundamental reason for the rise - and the volumes / deals are very small. Will the relaxing next week of the rules on short selling put an end to the joyride?

Quite a tussle today. Anyway, of no relevance to me as I was stopped out at 125p (from 77p).

Seems the price dropped well after the markets closed at 12h30. I wonder if that will trigger my 125p SL? I guess it depends where we open at 08h00 friday.

I wonder if they,ll pay the 47p per share divi for the second half of the year,
Can,t see them paying much if any next year with them having to pay a stonking
20% interest on the loan and the HMRC office closures.I,m just about in profit
after the phenominal rise over the last few days so I,m a happy how its panned
out

I,m assuming that Fortress where driving down the share price to set a low price for
when the loan is converted into shares in 2013 and now want the share price to rise to
see their holding increase in value,Only a guess though.

Maybe this is the reason why:

In order to take up Convertible Bonds under the Convertible Bond Issue Shareholders need to own at least 31,555 Ordinary Shares.

So why should the price go much above 86p?

Looks to me that with the price set at 86p for the convertible bonds the shorts are now closing.

Mapeley, a Guernsey-based company heavily involved in private finance
initiative (PFI) projects, took control of 600 tax offices in 2001 in
a deal that was severely criticised by MPs because it allowed the company
to avoid tax while owning and servicing tax offices.

...

Wesley Edens, the chairman and chief executive of Fortress Investment Group,
is also the chairman of Mapeley.

Mapeley

HM Revenue & Customs is closing 90 tax offices around the UK, leaving its Guernsey-based landlord Mapeley with vacant office space for 3,400 staff in the middle of the recession. Mapeley, which runs 600 tax offices, was already making a loss. After the announcement its share price plummeted by 97%, from £40 to £1.20.

so, "In March 2008 the Company stated that it had revised its dividend policy so that dividends
would be paid semi-annually at a revised
payout ratio. The Board stated that such a change in dividend policy would enable the Company
to increase balance sheet flexibility. In
assessing the appropriate pay out ratio in the future, the Board will have regard to the
impact of the Convertible Bond Issue on the
Company's financial position and prevailing market conditions. If interest is deferred on the
Convertible Bonds in accordance with their
terms, the Company will not be entitled to pay dividends until such interest has been paid."

So looks like this might well be delisted with no further divis likely

Not sure of the implications of delisting for PIs - are we likely to get around 80p per share? Anyone understand that aspect.

What I want to know is what has happened to the cash retained from cutting the dividend?

I cannot understand why the company needs more cash? The borrowing is fixed - so I can only assume they have got problems with collecting rent.
