What sort of van do they deliver in? There's nothing quite like the pride one feels as the Waitrose van pulls up.
The Tesco man brought me round some Campo Viejo reserva for less than a fiver and some Oyster Bay merlot for less than £6. I made them park round the corner obviously.

Well thank you very much ( I think ) ......just ordered a case of various clarets .... free delivery over a hundred quid too.

The sales pitch does seem very enticing ....

I'll report back when I've tried a couple of bottles....

I've been buying my claret from Nick Stephens at hxxp://www.bordeaux-undiscovered.co.uk/ for a few years now - so much better than trawling supermarket shelves or the Calais Wine Superstore trying to find a decent claret.I've never had a single bottle I didn't enjoy (in all price ranges) - as opposed to the days when I'd buy a couple of bottles to try from the supermarket and would regularly either give away, or throw away, the remaining bottle.

I'm not a fan of French wine full stop and that's all that Lidl sell now I believe. They seem to be peddling the belief that all Chateaunef du Pape or Chablis must be good and that is not the case. The beauty of brands is consistency. If you want a good sauvignon blanc , buy Cloudy Bay and if you see it for less than £15 , buy a lot. If you have less money , buy Villa Maria when on offer for as little as £4.50. I cannot see any bargains in the range and they have not been open to years of scrutiny and review. Also , they don't have special offers and an additional 25% off six bottles which is when I stock up. They may well have some good wines , but why should I take the chance? Aside from the fact that I don't like rubbing shoulders with chavs.

As this board knows, I really rate COOP for their wine offerings.

The truly superb Carmenere from Mont Gras is down to £6.99 at the mo. They have two different years on the shelves, 2012 and 2013. I think the 2013 the best of the two.

you've got to be insane to buy wine from Sainsbury's imo.
oops, sorry isis, this comment is not directed at you personally. :-)

And Sainbury , but not much worth having.
As previously mentioned Campo Viejo reserva at T and Aine et Fils at S.

1985 Grange Hermitage still sitting in the rack, I keep reading that it is so dense and tannic that it is never really truly ready for drinking.

We saw an Asda van in our cul-de-sac the other day. I've informed the residents' association and asked them to look into the matter.
I'm not in the residents' association and I imagine that they spend most of their time discussing what I've been up to.

Ocado excellent! Wouldn't want the neighbours seeing a tesco van round our manor! :-)

Ocado deliver it and Waitrose do the more expensive versions.

Anyway , you don't have to actually go and rub shoulders with the riff raff at Tesco , a man will bring it round at no extra cost. Come to think about it , you can't get it instore anyway.

We managed to polish off another 2 bottles of this last night.

It really is very good. Just wish I'd got more at £7.50.

The coop now has the Montgras Reserva Carmenere 2012 in stock, instead of the 2013.
Just tasting it now, it is different to the 2013, but just as moreish.
One day all red wines will be this good.
Cheers

thegreatgeraldo, do you know of any other wines like this?
