19/9/2014 20:39 | Yes , but the whole point is that they've embarked on selling expensive wine now. | bionicdog
19/9/2014 20:36 | And there you hit it on the head dog. lidl's don't give a toss about you wine snobs, they just want to pump out case after case of reasonable-ish plonk to the punters, who cant tell the difference anyway. Horses for courses. | maxk
19/9/2014 19:58 | I sort of agree with them. I cannot see the market for semi expensive wine at Lidl. It's easy to get hold of a cheap chateauneuf du pape for example. There is no guarantee of quality. Why are the Lidl wine buyers able to get hold of these "terrific" wines that nobody else wanted? In any case , most of their customers wouldn't even stump up £5 for a bottle. | bionicdog
19/9/2014 08:46 | I've tried a couple of the new Lidl range . I really liked the Gigondas ( £8.99 ) ... but I'm for really full powerful French wine tastes more than the 13.5 % it is. Waitrose comment re. the Lidl new wine launch was really snobby ....... chateaus that no one has heard of at £10 when we sell bottles at £ 1000. | marwalker
19/9/2014 08:05 | Are you on the Isle of Wight? They've got nothing but Coops. | bionicdog
18/9/2014 21:52 | INDOMITA Gran Reserva carmenere 2012 on offer at coop £7.49 very nice | bamboo2
05/9/2014 18:07 | Additional £30 off £150 shop at Waitrose cellar if anyone wants a code. | bionicdog
03/9/2014 16:22 | This is worth a go at just over six quid as well. | bionicdog
03/9/2014 16:22 | Do yourself a favour and get some of this. | bionicdog
03/9/2014 14:14 | A few more cases of Antinori arriving tonight. I've been polishing off the remnants of the old box which I'd been keeping assuming that I wouldn't get any more. The chiantis aren't bad , the whites fairly harmless , but I really can't see where the £15 price tag comes from for the Toscana rosso. Admittedly it's a bit more tannic than I'd normally go for without a bit more fruit to balance it out , but I can't see it flying off the shelves of Waitrose at that price. Having said that , I still finished it. | bionicdog
30/8/2014 14:26 | Happy Birthday bionic. I limit my wine intake to 2-3 days a week. On drinking days I'll have between half and a three quarters of a bottle. Mostly reds, I tend to search out 12.5% wines, the upper limit is 13.5%. The Aldi Malbec [14%!] wasn't as good as the Coop Malbec imo. | bamboo2
30/8/2014 14:24 | What is an Aldi? | bionicdog
30/8/2014 14:04 | That's an article from 2012. I tried it at the time and didn't rate it. Not that I'm an expert. I wouldn't bother buying it again. | sg31
30/8/2014 10:51 | Lidl going upmarket from next Thursday Lidl targets middle class with Bordeaux Grand Cru push | bigbigdave
29/8/2014 17:09 | Tesco is also selling the 2010 Villa Antinori at £14.99 ...... the offer is for the 2008 ..... tempting ! shame the offer includes two whites ( at least for me ) That Wairose Pinot Noir might be a bargain but, the grape is a little on the light side to my taste ........ pass the Madiran please ! | marwalker
29/8/2014 16:15 | Tesco have gone completely tonto. The cheap red is £14.99 at Waitrose. I used a voucher code on top of this! There are some other stupidly priced mixed cases as well. | bionicdog
29/8/2014 10:27 | Still two quid too much for abix. | bionicdog
29/8/2014 10:03 | Don't laugh - try the Romanian PN at Waitrose, currently on offer at £5.59. | thegreatgeraldo
29/8/2014 09:49 | a bottle a day Nurdin ....... mostly with dinner...... wine rant of the day ....... I hate these so called 'modern taste' wines .... most of the character stripped out of them sacrificed on the alter of smoothness. give me a wine with tannin and grip that clears the palate and makes every mouthfull of food as good as the first. | marwalker
28/8/2014 09:59 | Haven't tried that one yet. I did have the Stonier PN from Waitrose , which was nice but strangely pale in colour. Normally stick to NZ for PN , but recently got some Bouchard Aine et Fils for £3.82 from Sainsbury if you can believe it. It can certainly be drunk in an emergency. | bionicdog
28/8/2014 09:37 | nurdin, 28 units a week is what I always tell my GP :o) This is my current favourite...... Http://www.waitrosec | bigbigdave
28/8/2014 09:33 | A lot today , it's my birthday. | bionicdog
27/8/2014 22:23 | The most delectable wine I have come across is Hochar..a Lebanese wine, available from Majestic Wines among others. By the way how much wine do you guys consume per day? just curious and looking to ease my conscience :o) | nurdin
27/8/2014 22:08 | Hello Mr. Dog. Just dropping in. I'm a big fan of Merlot for a cheap buy. Not so much for one's own consumption eh? My problem is, that although I'd like to contribute to this illustrious thread, when I wake up in the toilet each morning, I can see the bottles but have no idea what was in them. lol! | abix74 |
