14/5/2016 09:08 | Further to Lookers' Benfield purchase, the papers ran stories yesterday about Volkswagen global sales. Eg. Data from the giant German company revealed a 3.9pc drop in worldwide deliveries of its VW passenger cars in April compared with the same month a year earlier, falling to 476,700.>/i> | ed 123
13/5/2016 17:29 | Two weeks to the agm. Concerns about the forthcoming update, in the light of the Benfield purchase? (Just my guess) | ed 123
13/5/2016 15:39 | Any ideas as to what brought that on? | pjleeds
06/5/2016 08:15 | Lookers ex divi yesterday, hopefully share price will turn upwards over the next few sessions. More generally, SMMT figures out this morning show New car registrations increased 2.0% in April to 189,505 units. The highest for April since 2003. 2% represents a levelling off versus recent months, however given the record numbers in March this was wholly expected. | mortimer7
22/12/2015 15:20 | Gosh, just popped out to the dentist and we've climbed up nicely while I was out. Some very big buys driving up the price. It's almost paid for my treatment ;-) | greensiax
04/12/2015 14:44 | Today's news is that UK Volkswagen sales are down 20% in November. Shareholders in Benfield Group (c40% VW Group dealerships ) acquired by Lookers in September must be laughing all the way to the bank. Not so Lookers Bankers who advanced the whole of the £87 million purchase price. | valhalla
02/12/2015 15:54 | I was reading recently that a lot of VW work will be coming the way of main dealers due to their(VW)shenanigans | dondee
02/12/2015 09:55 | Noticeable that Lookers has not participated in recent share price strength in competitors Pendragon and Vertu. Could it be statement with Caffyns results last week "we do however anticipate a slowdown in sales until Volkswagen is able to fully clarify the solutions to the affected vehicles ". Read across Lookers with 25% of dealerships being VW group ? | valhalla
30/10/2015 08:57 | Perhaps there will be lots of work on the VW recall, and lots of used car biz - then lots of new car sales from the new "clean" VWs? They might sell Jags to the disgruntled VW owners! Just my speculations, but every problem is an opportunity. cheers. edit - however I agree that it's odd they didn't mention it if only to say that they are taking steps to minimise negative impact on sales. | bigbertie
04/9/2015 21:13 | Forecasts have been updated look a bit on the conservative side to me with the recent acquistion. sorry only peel hunt and numis have taken acquistion into account | rolo7
03/9/2015 18:47 | Analysts at stockbroker Zeus Capital issued a note this morning stating: "We believe this is a good transaction as it provides more scale to the group with many of its brand partners, management know this business extremely well, and we can see how Lookers can generate a ROCE of c15% from this transaction over time. "The upshot is that this should enhance 2016E EPS by more than 10%, which puts the stock on less than 10x P/E to December 2016. We are comfortable with 2015 net debt/EBITDA rising towards 1.5x at peak levels, and expect this to steadily fall as the EPS enhancement kicks in. Overall, we are supportive of this transaction." "We think it’s possible for management to generate £12.5m of PBT from this business on a normalised basis, and with modest synergies this target should be hit in the next 2-3 years in our view." | jaf111
03/9/2015 10:40 | Hopefully economies of scale and other cost savings will double the Benfield profit - but doubtless there will be acquisition and integration costs too. Looks a good move anyway IMHO. | bigbertie
03/9/2015 07:29 | Looks like the news well received - share price currently up 9%..... Certainly looks like a great deal....increases revenue from £3bn to £3.7bn which almost catches Pendragon, the largest dealer with revenue of £4bn. (Of course revenue by no means the most critical factor!) | jaf111
03/9/2015 06:41 | Decent sized acquisition news today.......and immediately earnings enhancing... | jaf111
20/8/2015 12:23 | ah that explains the crazy volumes on Friday in the auction then | felix99
20/8/2015 10:46 | Looks like replaced Colt Group on Monday, see here hxxp://www.ftse.com/ | westkev
19/8/2015 20:54 | does any one know how or why lookers has entered the fste 250? I know tsb has delisted... | rolo7
14/8/2015 17:29 | Big volume here today also mmh looks good a new issue. | rolo7
12/8/2015 09:03 | Quite agree PastyBap - a devalued Chinese currency will also be beneficial for other retailers too. Bit of an overreaction by the market today IMHO. | gp1948
12/8/2015 08:31 | Adding a few down here. | wjccghcc
12/8/2015 08:25 | Probably correct gp1948. And the irony is that a devalued Yuan is probably beneficial for Lookers in that they are net importers from China, and also the deflationary impact will likely keep interest rates lower for longer now.... | pastybap
12/8/2015 08:08 | The whole market is down as a reaction to the devaluation of the Chinese currency. It's not a reflection on the results announced earlier today. | gp1948 |
