07/12/2010 18:31 | Govt freezes indigenisation MUNYARADZI MUGOWO | HARARE - Dec 06 2010 19:21 Government says it has shelved its indigenisation legislation until "the local economy recovers" and will be selling least 10 parastatals to foreign investors, ceding controlling stakes way above the statutory ceiling of 49%. The landmark policy climb-down comes as a shock to everybody who heard government officials swearing categorically and repeatedly at every public forum that the country would never recoil from the programme, treating it with the same sanctity they gave the fast-track land reform programme. 19/11/2010 20:35 | After hours announcement of finals to end Aug: I don't know why so late (5.58pm) unless it was to wait for the NAV per share quote depending on the closing price?: They say: As a result of the improving economic stability in Zimbabwe, LonZim has seen tangible progress in its operations during the year. Turnover £4.9m (2009: £2.6m) - up 90% "demonstrating the start of the recovery for the economy". Then crucially: The majority of Lonzim's subsidiary companies are not expected to require any further head office support for their operations going forward. AND: NAV per share of 87.2p compare to a closing market price on 18 November of 28.5p per share. Personally, I can't see why it isn't a lot closer to NAV - particularly if they don't need cash. And what will the NAV be once the Zimbabwean recovery is fully underway and the nutters no longer running the show? All in all - it remains an interesting punt and has to be worth some tuck away and forget money? | gingerplant | |
