23/4/2007 11:08 | LFI NAV has jumped up today A LOT !! 1/2M or so !!! Finsbury has jumped up.... and LFI have large % of its NAV in Finsbury....40 and something % I think.... must be higher now.... | markt
03/4/2007 11:13 | ...it's about to go up !!...that's my prediction !. getting close to the lower part of the trend line, 1p down with no trading... ---- 61p NAV at 28 Feb. > 19% increase for strategic invests. over 6months. Not bad. And not stopping at the moment ! MWB 28th Feb 245p now 285p Up 40p /share. LFI have 2M shares. = +0.8M pounds to LFI NAV Finsbury. FIF only up 3p--- but was at 110p.....and looks to have good chance to get past that.... as major acquisition made...and stated that expect EPS to increase as result... (and good fit acquisition...) LFI has 7.8M shares and a few warrants "our holding was £7,020,000 on 31st December 2006 compared to a cost of £1,800,000;" !! Not bad ! 39% of assetts of LFI. ----- LFI has 30.1M shares So MWB increase equals 2.7p per share increase to NAV of LFI. 5.2% increase due to increase in price of MWB if take LFI price as 52p. Not a doubling..... But 5% up in NAV = to one holding in just a few weeks is good. (for full change in NAV need to add all the parts.... other parts have not changed much, main market shares, Finsbury and Western Selection) (I'm hoping that Finsbury and Western will be next to increase in price... Western for example is at very big discount to NAV to that could easily jump up if there is a trigger of some sort...which would then increase LFI NAV again.... :-) ) | markt
02/4/2007 16:46 | this is kicking along by the way....NAV of strategic investments (MWB and FInsbury foods) up about 10% in last 6 weeks I have calculated what that is in pence per share... but if NAV was around 61p ...then perhaps between 4 and 6p . (general mkt shares up lower percentage...) | markt
02/4/2007 16:38 | MWB ...over 280p ! and keeps going up recently.... and LFI have 2M of 'em ! | markt
30/3/2007 10:42 | ...LFI getting a bit of an increase to NAV from Finsbury price rising a bit recently...results out today and price up....could well continue upwards and MWB creeping up.....as always !! ( more of the same as per the last 12 months.... hopefully LFI will go up as much this year as last year...) | markt
22/3/2007 12:05 | ...hmmmmm MWB now 270p !! ..was 240p a few days ago... LFI have 2M of 'em ! 2M times 30p= a good/fair solid chunk of LFI's NAV and hopefully MBE business and MWB will keep heading upwards... | markt
21/3/2007 15:10 | MBE , business office split off from MWB, has jumped today, continuing its climb MWB will likely follow it .....since MWB is main shareholder in MBE.... and the MBE shares owned are large part of assetts of MWB... and hopefully that will help (or won't harm) LFI share price, since LFI own 2M shares in MWB, solid % of LFI assetts and Finsbury Food is doing nicely... Looking good for LFI I think. | markt
12/3/2007 21:10 | Happy to hold these. Management are strong and experienced. Over the long term, returns have been reasonably good, but not fantastic. Decent dividend as well! | topvest
12/3/2007 15:52 | Hi Topvest ..perhaps not so dull in reality. WSE NAV up 10% in 6 months I think it said. Good enough. Share price at large % to the NAV , one day it will reduce.....eg. if announce buy back or some other scheme.... Some shareholders are only interested in the change in NAV, if don't need to sell shares then it's the change in NAV that matters. Share price will follow it. ---- LFI Share price has multiplied by 3 since 2003. OK, some stocks have multiplied by 10....but not many or any investment companies If it keeps the trend line going which is established now for about 3 years....then its shareholders will make good money. But I agree that in the next week it is likely to be very dull. But dull money making is OK !! Let's people do other things ! | markt
10/3/2007 13:42 | Interims for Lonfin and Western Selection solid, but dull. Oh well, steady as she goes! | topvest
09/3/2007 17:58 | I like a challenge Martin Currie Income and Growth Fund. | poacher45
09/3/2007 17:46 | ..graph shows clear doubling mid 2005 price to mid 2007, assuming that it continues its 2 year trend line Name any other investment company/fund/vehicle that has doubled in 2 years ?!. (noting a very concentrated investment vehicle, rather than a 'fund') | markt
09/3/2007 17:42 | 230K shares traded. What is going on here ?????!!!! This is very high volume for LFI. Normally there is just not the supply to provide 230k shares, at any price, selling or buying. Anyone know ? | markt
19/2/2007 14:36 | looks like 43% rise relative to starting price from Feb 2006 to 2007. and a dividend of about 2 %. enough to 'Keep the wolf from the door ' Not bad for a concentrated investment fund ! ..must be the highest rising concentrated investment fund I guess | markt
07/2/2007 17:46 | up a lot today.....but there is a bit more left to go I think since the holdings of LFI have risen nicely recently | markt
07/2/2007 14:16 | ....and its investments have been creeping up in value over last 2 months, especially Finsbury in last 2 days.....and Finsbury is what has triggered the large jump today I think... ...and on Finsbury message board they say that some new Finsbury shares to be issued ...a 85p....and looks like to large % shareholders only and not to small private shareholders .....and of course LFI is a large shareholder....so... and (if only you readers were paying me something for these quality opinions of mine !! ) LFI will, I am sure, get profit reduction benefits in subscribing for new shares (classed as investing in new shares in a risk venture, so tax breaks, like a flotation I believe) So in LFI offices they may justifiable be opening a bottle of bubbly today !! ...(and if my memory is correct it was LFI that made Finsbury happen at the start, although I could be wrong, I can't now recall the details.....) If the LFI chaps are ...good.... (look at the share price graph and the news from investment companies over last 2 years). then perhaps LFI should trade at 0% discount to NAV ??!! or even a premium !!, now that would be good !! | markt
07/2/2007 12:41 | Undervalued and somebody has spotted it? :-) | cwa1
07/2/2007 12:33 | Possibly due to the increase in value of Finsbury Foods shares. | oooff
07/2/2007 12:12 | up 10% but no announcements.Tipshe Cheers george | meadow50
05/2/2007 13:08 | 10p a year rise in 2005 and 10p rise again in 2006 and solid up trend since the market changed direction in 2003 and also solid dividend every year, adding to the return and the directors have their own money in the shares, (one owns large % of the company) and the directors dont get paid much Not as exciting as investing in a single technology stock, but not as risky either. And excitement in investing is perhaps overrated !, real return is more exciting. ------ Beats putting the money in the bank !! | markt
31/1/2007 22:42 | jhan 66 take a look at wse | ntv
31/1/2007 21:06 | i could learn to love this share. sold out long time ago but rekindled our relationship today buying 5000. warm, good sense of humour, kind hearted. Well maybe, but it's the asset discount & underlying growth I fell for. | jhan66
09/1/2007 15:42 | I totally agree but this share is unloved. | poacher45
09/1/2007 15:37 | ...about time for LFI share price to go up again I reckon ! ;-) | markt |
