The US government grants announced in October indicated huge potential for LSI
the bulk of the grant is for research into liver transplant transportation this is potentially a huge market.
Average PE projections for this yea and next indicate earnings of 6.5 P. and 10p.

LSI is the underlying share. If you have these (as I do) they have to be held in physical form.

LSIC are crestable shares. If you have these you can trade them through crest. This makes it easier to settle, etc.

If you have LSI shares you can apply to have converted into LSIC shares. Trouble is that the market is even less liquid than for LSI shares.

Normally stock exchange would require company to issue a statement explaining a significant share price move. I would have thought they would ask for one here as well. I guess if it comes it will be after USA wake up

Aha - I was wondering why this spiked - that explains it

Seems to be bags of potential for this company - with the disposals providing regular income following the sale of the original lifeport...

Approximately 326 LifePorts are now in use globally; 11 were sold in the first half of 2009. The first sales of LifePort in Italy were achieved with transplant centres in the Bologna region. Italy is one of Europe's largest markets for renal transplant procedures. Trading from the end of the interim period has continued to be strong and management is confident of a good performance in the second half of the year.

The global shortage in human donors continues to increase with the forecast US and EU official waiting lists for a donor kidney to reach over 100,000 patients by 2014 and demand also increasing from the major emerging markets. Each year tens of thousands of people die waiting for a transplant and many more on the waiting list endure inconvenient and expensive dialysis. The continued dissemination of scientific evidence of LifePort's ability to improve renal transplant outcomes and help lower the overall costs of transplant should encourage further LifePort adoption and usage. The commercial roll out of the LifePort is still at an early stage and we believe that sales growth can be maintained as transplant centres throughout the world start to adopt LifePort as part of their standard practices for kidney preservation.

Grant funding from the US National Institutes of Health and other agencies continues to drive research and development of the LifePort platform for extra-renal organs. Lifeline continues to perform in line with our expectations and we are confident of delivering another strong performance in the second half of 2009.

LifePort Recognised as Key Medical Device

Lifeline Scientific, the medical technology company focused on commercialising its LifePort® Kidney Transporter, an advanced organ preservation and transport system, designed to address the global challenge of human donor organ shortages, announces that Medical Device & Diagnostic Industry ("MDDI") magazine has recognised the LifePort® Kidney Transporter as one of the top medical devices of the past 30 years. In celebration of their 30th anniversary MDDI magazine honored the top 30 medical devices from the past 30 years. The LifePort® Kidney Transporter made the list and stands among many groundbreaking medical inventions including the Blood and Cell Separator and the Angioplasty Balloon Catheter. MDDI praised the LifePort by saying: "The product uses mobile machine perfusion to improve transplant outcomes, allowing the use of more organs and lowering the number of organs discarded."

David Kravitz, Chief Executive of Lifeline, said: "It is a tremendous achievement for the LifePort to be recognised alongside those devices that have helped
shape medicinal practice over the past 30 years. LifePort is off to a strong start and we are grateful for the opportunity to help advance transplant medicine worldwide."

There are now approximately 326 LifePorts in use around the world with over 17,000 kidneys having been preserved on LifePort for clinical transplant.
65 LifePorts were sold in 2008: 11 in Canada, 36 in the US, 18 in RoW.

LifePorts are now used in 90 transplant centres, across 16 countries, with 14 new transplant program clients added during 2008. Successful pilot launch of the new SPS.1 organ flush solution during the 4th Qtr helped to grow revenue and further establish the Company presence as a one stop resource for organ preservation requirements.
