Hi folks,

I recently wrote a 2 part article on Russian/Ukrainian farmland/agri stocks on my new value investing blog, if you care to take a look:

I'm a long term bull on many of these stocks, in terms of their under-valuation, but I highlight a problem that is looming for most of them (Landkom is a prime example, unfortunately) and could prove problematic for their share prices in the short term.

Back home on the farm Grandpa was just logging on to check his E-mail, and three hours later he had bought a K-registered Vauxhall Astra and had married a seventeen year old ukrainian. He has not yet bought any more Landkom shares though!

This company is badly managed. It has huge potential, but the directors simply don't bother about the details, so disaster after disaster.

I lost so much on this and will not spend a single penny anymore.

I am not sure whether you can tell what the Ukrainian loan market is like from Manila more than I can from Grimsby.

Whatever the reason the situation with the biofuel plant is as I have said.

IMV they need to concentrate on getting a profitable farm before other ventures.

you have to think not everywhere in the world that there are fininacing problems, i take it you are from the UK, well the UK, America Western Europe are having there problems but many places in the world are booming, where i am in SE Asia the economy is on fire...

In Ukraine no problem either, they wont be seeking an IMF bailout!

They have looked at it but there are no immediate plans.

I suspect the project is a good one but financing will be the issue.

Rather worrying - The prospects for the harvest-2012 are not so perfect. The HydroMeteorological Center of Ukraine forecasts resowing works throughout over 20% of winter crops areas for the harvest-2012 due to drought conditions in the autumn.

That's me out of this investment. I've taken a big loss. I don't plan to invest in Ukrainian farming again.
