For crying out loud, what is your problem??

You attacked me for making a sound business comment about a particular sector of retailing, going on about the staff which I made no comment on!!!

I was told that they were being prepared for Administration as early as Monday and that it had filtered down to the stores as certain procedures had to be carried out in the way of taking customer orders!!!

Wether it happens or not is out of our control and to be honest I am very surprised that it seems not to have made the Sunday rags, but then again it could have been a late decision, who knows and cares for that matter!

As previously stated I have no position here at all just a general interest in this sector of retailing!!

The only thing that is going to happen tomorrow is that I will continue to earn money from the stock market whilst you get ready to go to school.

Thank you for your personal comments though as I really did appreciate them!

CSM..

Again this is just "hearsay" but it seems we both have heard the same thing, my original comment was just about IF they HAD to take a cash deposit!!!! You don't need me to tell you that it is wrong, FULL STOP!!! If you wanted to you could say that they are holding any cash deposits back "allegedly" so that if they went under they could give it back to the customer who then won't have lost out!!! I think that is being too kind to LAN though imo!!

If I were a manager I would refuse to do it, how is it accounted for in the first place "IF" it is happening, that money could just vanish in to thin air and as I have said above it is not best business practise at all and "could" involve prosecutions imo from potential administrators who have a duty to creditors etc!!

As to the delivery "Bonus" situation, I have just been told that it has gone on for some time, but I don't know how it is paid out or "IF" indeed it is declared at all!!!!!!!!!!

The more I hear about this the more I feel that this company needs to be shut down for the sake of the rest of the industry and pretty damn fast imo!!!!!

this would not surprise me as when they first started I heard they charged £49 CASH for delivery, £40 to the driver and £9 to the Store Manager as a bonus, what tax got paid on that I wonder? suppose it depends on the individuals tax circumstances, not sure if it is still best practice, but I could not beleive they where doing it, not so sure now though. btw trojan, if what you heard is what I heard it is criminal as you must issue a vat receipt if you accept payment for an order with a value over £100 so is that not VAT avoidance? now there is something that would lead to prison.

CSM..

I don't think so, it was what they were "possibly" telling managers to do with Cash deposits that they WERE taking!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like I said it seem's a bit far fetched which Is why I am being a bit careful and although it may be having the customers best interests at heart it IS NOT good for the business if any administrators were to come in!!

BUT.... That said if it were to go into admin and come out AGAIN (as you imply)with a new name and less stores it would give them a bit of good PR as they would need customers to have some confidence in them to continue to trade on.

It is just my opinion, but it would be better for the wider industry if they went fully under leaving the rest of the chains to survive ready for the recovery when it comes. Not good for the staff, but then again the good ones should have been looking for new jobs months a go!!

that's the way it is, write the debt off and worst stores then off you go.

those that try to trade the debt off are mugs IMHO, banks shouldn't have lent it out.

The only winners are the insolvency firms.
