11/9/2008 12:40 | I am with Trojan. My wife works for DFS. They have announced redundancies and the recent promotions have fallen well short of targets. They are in the firing line along with a few quoted furniture retailers. It is only a matter of time before one of them goes to the wall. I have shorted LAN in the past but closed between 10 / 20p old money as I thought they were about to be suspended. I also took out a small short following the re-org and have since closed that for a small profit. The easy money has been made. From here on it I see nothing but "a death from a 1000 cuts". If they survive the course in 2/3 years time I suspect your initial equity stake would have been dliuted so much that it would be pretty much worthless. | the big fella
11/9/2008 08:48 | bullet8.. Thank you for your informative post as it bought a smile to my face. Not that I need to, but I will help you out and clear my position here up for you!! I do not and never have owned any LAN shares and to go one step further I have never bought any retail shares at all!! This might seem strange coming from someone with a retail background but I know the industry reasonably well and had the sense to stay away from it on the investment front and decided I would invest elsewhere in other sectors that I would find more interesting. I look in on retail threads now and again as a lurker mainly as it is hard to switch off completely and only post on the furniture threads due to a close family member who currently manages a Harveys furniture store but has also been involved with other big ticket retailers!!! I hope this helps but I guess it is not what you wanted to hear. Have a good day. ;) | trojan
11/9/2008 08:13 | clearly trojan has taken a dislike to lan,and probably has no connections whatsoever with the furniture industry.sounds like fingers where burnt dealing. | bullet8 |
