26/7/2011 12:59 | Ex div date was 6th july with payment 29th,not sure what the record date was... | spekky
26/7/2011 12:08 | Is Kio back ex dividend today - with the 4.5p drop? | ljsquash
24/7/2011 11:59 | Thanks H. I'll ask IFG to send me a recent sample copy. Back in the Slater and Stevenson days I learned a lot from their writing. We don't yet know if/when KIO will be a winner, but it does meet a lot of promising indicators. Trouble is, we can make money by being one step ahead of the market, but nothing (or lose money) if three steps ahead. I bought KIO at least 6 months too early and have had a boring hold so far with the shares stuck in a range below £1. I try to remind myself it is better than climbing aboard too late. | jon l
23/7/2011 18:01 | Jon L. I think IDH was tipped by the old IFG regime. I held it from the £2s into the £9s then sold during a period of stagnation. I see they now have a new lease of life and an ambitious business plan. There were some disappointing IFG issues under the new editors but lately they have come up with Group NBT, which is a steady climber, and now KIO. | hitchinhoncho
22/7/2011 10:38 | the_hedge Thanks for that,I presume that will lead to a 24/7 production regime which they hinted at sometime last year........looking good,I think its about time there was some acquistion news, come on R.E. its in your job description.. ;-) | spekky
21/7/2011 11:19 | Hitchinhoncho Interesting to see your post. I don't get IFG any more (gave it up when Slater and Tom Stevenson moved on) but KIO popped up on my radar last November in a trawl using Slater type criteria. I bought then and have been sitting patiently since waiting for the quality of this company to be noticed. Still waiting and I hope that your timing is closer than mine... A little off topic - I would be interested in your view of IFG today with its current editors. I felt that it took a turn downhill with the editors who took it on after Slater and Stevenson. But perhaps another team is in place now. I notice that you say they tipped IDH, which is another holding of mine found on Slater type search, and rewarding me handsomely. | jon l
18/7/2011 10:28 | Good luck with your timing,as you can see,the share price tends to fluctuate a bit wildly at times..........and best not mention the silly spread ;-( | spekky
18/7/2011 08:50 | Thanks Spekky. I think I might join you. It looks as if KIO could be one of those gems IFG discovers before the company enters its exciting "adolescent growth phase", I did well with IDH and AVV on their tips. This also seems a thoughtful thread, free of nutters and charlatans, which is a good indicator. | hitchinhoncho
18/7/2011 07:57 | hitchinhoncho I think the only link to Cefas is on the Aquaculture side of the business.Cefas effectively own the intellectual property for Aquatice which as yet has not been commercialised.Last time I looked Cefas were shareholders in KIO.The agricultural R&D is carried out by Kiotechs own nutritionists/scient Edit...Seems as though the IFG tip might be having some effect, thanks for sharing. | spekky
16/7/2011 15:20 | Oops. I guess that is 5.4% relative to the index. I see the year's high and lows are 72-96. | hitchinhoncho
16/7/2011 12:30 | Tipped in latest Investing for Growth, which selects stock using Jim Slater's Zulu Principle criteria. Numbers and potential look good but, like a number of their tips, it appears thinly traded and under-performing - up 5.4% in a year according to Company Refs. Also can one of the regulars say why it is an R&D company with a PRR of 287? Is it because Cefas does all their R&D? | hitchinhoncho
15/7/2011 08:08 | Spekky missed your edited post, I don't think you can buy GCI at newsagents, they are quite good at releasing tips and news to non subscribers on their website within a few days, but I haven't seen their features/analysis on the website like they did for KIO in the mag last week. I think they have a big show in the autumn so might be a good time to pick up some subscriber offers Paraguay depends on so much of your other plans, I have been building my stake for six months now, it's in my SIPP though so I can be patient, it's not a share I would hold in my trading account, as it could take 5 years to play out as I hope. I like the fact that KIO could stand still business wise and make a bigger profit this year due to all their property savings, a great use of cash to buy their freehold property. Edit. I would describe KIO as one of my top 3 conviction trades. ( though not necessarily profit potential) A test I give myself every so often is the desert island one, if I disappeared for a year, and couldn't follow news, which shares would I want to hold? And which are least effected by macro events? | davydoo
15/7/2011 07:59 | All quite here and share price heading in wrong direction since consolidation...some | paraguay
07/7/2011 13:01 | Definitely. It appeared more as a good positive summary rather an out and out tip. | davydoo
07/7/2011 12:38 | GCI have done some good articles on KIO over the years, you never know,it might persuade some to invest (can't hurt). EDIT..Do you know if GCI mag can be purchased at newsagents.? | spekky
07/7/2011 11:44 | Theres a good 2 page write up in Growth Company Investor magazine that i received this morning. Cites the strength of a worldwide distribution network, and refers to 700k plc costs, which could be attractive to a bidder. | davydoo
06/7/2011 17:56 | it went ex div today, hence the drop | davydoo
06/7/2011 17:42 | Why do you want it to go up? I want it back down to 80.. | skarab
06/7/2011 17:02 | Can this ever go up and stay there...please???... | tailgunner2
30/6/2011 10:53 | Lovely statement. I've added some more this morning. | davydoo
30/6/2011 10:44 | Yes, the co. continues to do its thing competently and describe it in understated ways. Just no indication when the market will catch on and take us up out of this boring trading range below £1 ?? | jon l
30/6/2011 10:43 | Still dont know when/if the market is ever going to recognise this little gem,in the meantime I'll just look forward to banking the div. (29th July I think)....... | spekky
30/6/2011 09:32 | As always very understated wihout any sales pitch. But all looks very good! :-) | ljsquash
30/6/2011 08:12 | I see advfn has caught up now...... ;-) | spekky |
