More lucky than Warren! Yes, more than trebled when I sold and yes, holding more than I probably should.

realcool: brave moves during worrisome times . You obviously followed
Warren Buffet's mantra : " buy when others are fearful" and got the rewards for it . I hope you doubled or trebled your money . Holding any now ?

I may top up my little stake a bit more after more research and when the Vodafone payout is settled . It's often a good idea to diversify .

harvester, welcome back.

"Was anyone here brave enough to buy in or add at the low point of 10p in 2008 during the financial crash ?"

I didn't quite get 10p but I did buy 10k @ 13p and another 10k @ 18p (sold long ago unfortunately).

Sept: well done .
All my share investments at the moment are with ftse100 stock. Less profitable in a bull market but less risky and less volatile.
I have a big stake in VOD .
After a little research dipped my toes in here this am at 98.7 . Coming a bit late to the party here but seemed worth taking a little stake . Research easier for KCOM than for the big companies with their more complicated accounting .

10p I wish,

I did buy a small number at 28p but my overall average is 68p.

As you say Harvester, KCOM not a bad little dividend payer.

Had a quick look at the financials.
Surprised to see that they have managed to pay a rising dividend since 2004 .
Quite respectable payout right now .
Was anyone here brave enough to buy in or add at the low point of 10p in 2008 during the financial crash ?

Sept & others:
Since you are getting so lonely here I join you today and maybe a bit longer . My last visit to a KCOM thread was in 2003 . 10+ years and 8000+ posts later : What has happened to this company ? Anything interesting in the meantime ?
First of all : congratulations to KCOM and its followers . Survival for this small company is an achievement in itself while many others have vanished during or after the dotcom crash .
I seem to remember (not cert6ain after such a long time) that Hull City Council had a big stake in Kcom in those early years were displeased with their investment returns and financial exposure . Correct ???
Has Hull managed to attract business to the City on account of the fast fibre optic City cabling ? Have many residents signed up for it ?
Sorry to bore you with these questions . I guess with a little research I can find out for myself .

Current trading

Over the third quarter of the financial year, the Group's performance has remained consistent with trading as reported at the interim results, released in November 2013.

Contract update

At the time of the interim results, we announced that Kcom had secured preferred supplier status for a substantial contract with a government department. The Group can confirm it has now signed this contract for the provision of hosted contact centres, supported by related IT and telephony services, enabled by our cloud-based portfolio, "Workplaces". This project is now in the detailed planning phase and a further update will follow at the preliminary results.

Outlook

The Board expects the Group to trade in line with expectations for the rest of the current financial year. The Group is due to announce its preliminary results on 6 June 2014.

Another lurker here. Thanks SQ, that has to be the 'substantial contract' mentioned in the Interims:

"Preferred supplier status

The Group has secured preferred supplier status for a substantial contract with a government department for the provision of hosted contact centres supported by related IT and telephony services.During the second half of the year, we will be finalising contract details for these services, which are enabled by our cloud-based portfolio, Workplaces. Further information will be provided following contract signature."

Presumably no RNS as the contract is not yet signed.

You're not alone SQ :-)
The recent interims and preceding trading statements have been "average" as far as I'm concerned, and the rise in share price has surprised me based on the results, it would be good to get some positive news on the contract front
Back to the shadows...

Hmm, being a KCOM shareholder can be lonely at times.

Anyhow, article in today's Times "KCOM is now on the cusp of sealing the deal with HMRC" and "big contract to supply its Cisco-based Workplaces system to the department's call centres"

Strange no RNS.

It seems that KCOM's share price is being steadily punished for the lukewarm interims.

I have had a cold call from this guy saying that he represents Sachs, when I pushed him he said Goldman Sachs. Because I had held Kcom shares for 10 years he wanted to tell me that Kcom would be approached by BT in the next 6 months for £2.50p per share, Sachs had privilege information. I put the phone down at this stage of the conversation.
Anyone else had this approach?
