My only advice for Key West is to book ahead and be prepared to pay top dollar. I couldn't get anything much, wound up with a 9x9feet room. no ensuite (cubbyhole round the corner) for $120 a night - that was four years ago!
Enjoyed Hemingway's house.
Much cheaper accommodation at the beginning of the keys.
Have a good time.

I drove down to Key West from Miami in September. For us it was just a day trip so I can't help you much regarding accommodation but I can tell you the trip was well worth it. Try Key West shrimps.

Dear All,

Sitting at home in cold and snowy Leeds, I am comforted by the fact that I am off in a couple of days to the North American Vet Conference in Orlando which takes place 13-18th Jan.
However, I am taking a trip down to the Keys for 10 days before the conference, and I was wondering if any of our erudite, and well travelled BBoarders could recommend spots to stay and places to eat in that vicinity.
I will be travelling with my wife, Colleen, and my youngest daughter Jenny,15.
I am particularly looking for the more interesting small local hotels and eateries (preferably seafood) rather than than more national "chains"
The golf clubs will also be in the luggage, so direction in this dept. would also be welcome.

Compliments of the season, and a Profitable New Year to you all,

Dr D
