Ideally, we could do with some regular updates over the next few weeks to wash out all of the placing shares. Three or four more 50million trade days would certainly do that. Once the overhang has gone, we are back on a level playing field!

Roger Chaplin
Mr. Roger I. Chaplin is a Non-Executive Director of Karelian Diamond Resources Plc. He has over twenty five years experience in mining analysis, gained initially in a South African mining house and latterly in the City of London. He was Senior Vice President and Mining Analyst at T. Hoare and Co., which later became Canaccord Capital (Europe) Limited in London from 1993 to 2003. Since 2003 he has worked as an independent analyst and as Head of Research for M. Horn & Co. He gained a particular interest in diamonds through following the development of the Canadian diamond mines over the past fifteen years.
Sorca Conroy
Dr. Sorca Conroy is Non-Executive Director of the Company. Dr. Sorca Conroy, a medical graduate of The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, held a number of clinical positions in between her graduation in 1995 and joining Hoodless Brennan, a City stockbroker in 2004. She was recruited to ING Bank in 2006 and whilst there was ranked second in the Extel Survey for Biotechnology Specialist Sales. She had previously been specialist sales for life sciences and institutional equities at Canaccord Adams (2005-2006), where she ranked fourth in the 2006 Extel survey. Dr. Conroy has been a Non-Executive Director of Conroy Gold and Natural Resources since 2010.
Seamus Fitzpatrick
Mr. Seamus P. Fitzpatrick is a Non-Executive Director of Karelian Diamond Resources Plc. He has worked in both corporate finance and private equity in London and New York with Morgan Stanley, J. P. Morgan and Bankers’ Trust. In 1999 he co-founded CapVest, which has raised funds in excess of £2.0 billion. He is chairman of the Mater Private Hospital and Valeo Foods, and is a board member of Reno Norden. He is also a member of the board of Conroy Diamonds and Natural Resources plc.
Louis Maguire
Mr. Louis J. Maguire is Non-Executive Director of Karelian Diamond Resources Plc. He is an Auctioneer by profession with particular experience in the purchase of mineral rights and in land acquisition for mining. He is also a director of Conroy Diamonds and Gold Plc.

Karelian Diamonds (LON:KDR, 0.56p) - Speculative Buy

Karelian Diamonds, the diamond exploration company focused on Finland, announced today that a diamond was discovered in one of seven till samples from the Kuhmo region undertaken by the Geological Survey of Finland on behalf of the Company. The diamond is a clear, pale green dodecahedron and measures 0.7 x 0.75 x 0.7mm. This diamond discovery coupled with high concentrations of kimberlitic indicator minerals (KIMs) identified in the area strongly suggest that a diamondiferous kimberlite is present. The KIMs include purple to red peridotitic garents (G9/G10 Cr-pyrope), mantle garnets and chromite grains. The above samples will be subject to further analysis.

Our view: This is exciting news for Karelian as finding diamonds in till samples is an extremely rare event and solidifies the potential of the area hosting diamondiferous kimberlites. The Kuhmo region of Finland hosts several previously discovered kimberlites and exhibits similar geology and geochemistry as the Arkhangelsk region in Russia, an area which hosts one of the largest diamond mines in Russia. We maintain a Speculative Buy on the stock.

Richard Conroy
Professor Richard T.W.L. Conroy is the Chairman of the Board of Karelian Diamond Resources Plc. He has been involved in natural resources for many years. He established Trans-International Oil in 1974, which was primarily involved in Irish offshore oil exploration, and initiated the Deminex Consortium which included Deminex, Mobil, Amoco & DSM. Trans-International Oil was merged with Aran Energy Plc in 1979. Professor Conroy founded Conroy Petroleum and Natural Resources P.l.c. which in 1986 made the discovery of the Galmoy zinc deposit in Co Kilkenny which is now in production as a base metal mine. Conroy Petroleum was also a founding member of the Stoneboy consortium, an exploration group which discovered the POGO gold field in Alaska now in production as a gold mine. Conroy Petroleum acquired Atlantic Resources plc in 1992 and was renamed ARCON International Resources Plc (ARCON). Professor Conroy was Chairman and Chief Executive of ARCON from 1980 to 1994. Professor Richard Conroy is an Emeritus Professor of Physiology in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. His research has included pioneering work on the effects of Circadian Rhythms including Jet Lag, Shift Working and Decision Taking in Business after Intercontinental Flights. Professor Conroy served for two terms in the Irish Parliament as a member of the Senate. As a Senator he was at various times front bench spokesman for the Government party in the Upper House on Energy, Industry and Commerce, Foreign Affairs and Northern Ireland.
James Jones
Mr. James P. Jones, FCA, is Finance Director, Company Secretary, Executive Director of Karelian Diamond Resources Plc. He has been associated with the natural resources industry for over 20 years. He is a chartered accountant by profession. He served as finance director of Conroy Petroleum and Natural Resources Plc from its formation until 1994, when he joined with Professor Conroy to create Conroy Diamonds and Gold Plc. He has served as finance director and secretary of that company since its inception in 1995. He became Finance Director and Secretary of this Company on its formation.
Maureen Jones
Ms. Maureen T. A. Jones is the Managing Director, Executive Director of Karelian Diamond Resources Plc. She has over 20 years’ experience at senior level in the natural resource sector. She has been Managing Director of Conroy Gold and Natural Resources since 1998 and was a founding director of that company. She joined Conroy Petroleum and Natural Resources Plc on its foundation in 1980 and was a director and board member of Conroy Petroleum/ARCON from 1986 to 1994. Ms. Jones has a medical background and specialised in the radiographic aspects of Nuclear Medicine before becoming a manager with International Medical Corporation in 1977.
