So it appears that all the brokers have actually been buying for the chinese, very sneaky, had you guys all holding out thinking brokers were out trying to make money on a higher bid. Unbelievable!

Wonder if they have been buying extract as well, it was my belief they were not allowed to start purchasing ext shares nor could any of their brokers, but who can trust them

Hi BeefEater

I would think that it is short sellers closing out their positions.

Might be a chance for those with small holdings to do a bit better that 243.55p.

Regards

Steve

Strange that this has trickled ovwer the offer price this morning.
I thought if it was sorted then it normally sits slightly under the offer price?

Is there still time for a white knight who was waiting to see if CGNPC got their offer accepted?

If an offer of 270p was made within the next 2 weeks by the Russians or by Nippon, would it be allowed to stand?

Settlement

The consideration to which any Kalahari Shareholder is entitled under the Offer will be settled (i) in the case of valid acceptances received by 1:00 p.m. (London time) on 2 February 2012, on or before 16 February 2012; and (ii) in the case of valid acceptances received after 1.00 p.m. (London time) on 2 February 2012, but while the Offer remains open for acceptance, within 14 days of such receipt, in each case in the manner described in the Offer Document.

AIUI, if you don't accept, you have to wait until they have 90%; they then make a compulsory purchase, and you then get the cash. It takes a while. May as well give in now IMV.

I doubt it, but I still have a few KAH, just in case.

Zangdook, do you think there will still be a counterbid?

So who is NURA Holdings Pty Ltd? Google reveals nothing, so it's presumably a newly established vehicle.

All quiet.. Is today is the day we find out if CGNPC has been successful? Looks possible that KAH could go for less than 270p but the read takeover battle that we were hoping for will be over at EXT.

Do the KAH directors have any personal holding directly in EXT?

UBS just upped their holding by 3M to 8.5%.
Hopefully that is out of reach to the dithering easterns.

Sale of RIO shares to Chinese just got a mention on CNBC.
Although no mention of the overall takeover position.

Perhaps it may generate some interest!

Looks like Rio have got one over on Dattels. Strange I never thought Dattels would lose a battle...

I'm inclined to agree re Dattels. In hindsight perhaps it was a signal we underestimated.

You are probably right, Dattels knows what he is doing - maybe i should have followed him and put my money to better use elsewhere!

It did seem odd that the Dattels vehicles exited so suddenly. Perhaps they foresaw that it wouldn't play out as we hoped.

I cant see Rio agreeing to the deal on KAH as they have done without a behind the scenes deal on EXT already done. They have played the game and won, no doubt they will have a joint venture plan all agreed. I am very unhappy having held for four years. I guess all we can hope for now is a white knight but they are leaving it a bit late in the day. Perhaps the Nabian Gov. have told all other interested parties to keep their hands off so they get their "free" 10%. Small holder screwed again.

Unbelievable, considering all the Dattels, Hohnen, et al hype in the past. If this deal goes through there is no way it can be said to be in the interest of the ordinary shareholder, especially as there is still a significant amount of resource yet to be discovered imo. It looks like this deal has been bulldozed through on the basis of some unreported 'behind-the-scenes' deal. But what happens if EXT say 'No'? Is it worth a punt on EXT on that basis?

With the offer close date of the 2nd, does anyone have an opinion when they will announce whether they achieved more than 50% acceptance? It does look like game over, but then i cant see why hedge funds have been increasing their stakes unless they expect a higher bid. Unbelievable if we lose this at such a low price.

Looks like this could be game over at less that 245p. Crazy.

Henderson now fully out.
zangdook

Henderson down to 0.5%, perhaps they'll try to buy back on any fall as a result of the cheap bid failing....

but then they might find other people also fancy a top up or a new investment at anything less than 230p, especially if they think a bid above 250p could be back on the table quickly.

personally I think they'll have to raise the bid back to 290p to get much more support....ere's hoping.

dyor etc...
