Welcome to all the new pi's reading this thread, if you haven't already done so, I suggest you listen to the excellent interviews Leon (CEO) has given this year, see links above in header.

Do we get an amount of PGMs from processing the copper tailings ? I think if JLP do I read we keep 100% of that side of the deals ?

I suppose they are earmarking resources in the local area to fully utilise Elephant. They could have more choice over which resources to feed to keep a decent average feedstock whilst utilising the lower grades.

Plus this kind of news spreads to other areas where other companies might request a farm in for the technology as a group.

I do find peoples request for the sensitive commercials on deals to be published? As far as I remember Tesco doesn’t publish the price it pays for baked beans? Also haven’t heard anyone complaining about this?

Leon - vague... no!
It means he can renegotiate the deals like he did at Hernic more than once.

The detail is a bit vague - I'm not technically minded enough to know how close the concentrator has to be to the tailings to make the process viable, but using the 'Elephant' facility would indeed make financial sense!

Maybe someone with a deeper knowledge base and a better geographical grasp will be able to answer this one or maybe one of the numerous chat show hosts will pick up on it - doubtful IMO.

Like a lot of Leon's deals there are gaps & details missing and shareholders are left guessing.

Certainly gives JLP the option to modify their copper targets - exceeding the 25k tons per annum !!

All good

Excellent news but probably missed by many market watchers owing to the 8am timing, so an opportunity to add before demand heats up. Also explains why the annual results have not been issued yet as Leon has clearly been a very busy boy.

For the header, from the other thread (no idea why Bullster's stopped posting on this one):

The end of OCTOBER BBI was $2,268

Todays RNS:

-- The Tailings have been previously drilled and sampled to confirm both content and size containing on average 0.3% copper and 0.05% cobalt.

.................................................................

We now have a more solid estimate of cobalt to copper ratio.

0.3/0.05 = 16.66% Cobalt content per tonne of Copper.

That's very good for us, we don't share our cobalt profits, that i am aware of.

With the price of copper at $7,840 per tonne the equivelent cobalt $33,790 per tonne gives $5,630 at 16.66%

From the RNS "We have, within 14 months of establishing our presence in Zambia, approximately 270 million tonnes of copper tailings and commissioned a fully operational copper refinery with the ability to expand the refinery into multi metal products."

This suggests to me that if the zinc price is good enough, we could go for the metal instead of the concentrate.

Seems Losta was spot on with his theory of another deal !!

Quite a intricate JV deal with several partners by the sound of things and I'm guessing we won't be told the minutia of the terms and financial commitment from Jubilee.

Reading the text one question that arises, is that although the tailings are at different sites within a 50km radius of the Project Elephant site (at Kitwe) are Jubileee going to build another concentrator or utilise the one they are building for 'Elephant'

Certainly JLP will benefit from economies of scale, has to be worth 10p by Friday - LOL

Something of a muted response from the market?
