07/3/2016 10:29 | I'd suggest that tomorrow we don't see anything dramatic on strategic options. However, I wouldn't be surprised at seeing an increased divi, clarification on management structure (keeping it separate), and pension fund contribution clarity. The strategic options I feel is still coming...when the Menzies chairman goes the same way as the McBride chairman -:) | buffettjnr
07/3/2016 10:25 | Schroders sold. Standard Life sold. A few left. Biggest shareholder remains Kabouter and the remnants of the family. | buffettjnr
07/3/2016 10:01 | Is that so, Buffettjnr? The last accounts suggest institutional holdings of between 28 and 31%, which would be fairly healthy. However I haven't checked all the holdings RNSs for the last 14 months. | grahamite2
07/3/2016 09:29 | Results tomorrow then. Will they update us on the comment they made in the January TU? "The Board of John Menzies plc will continue to review its strategic and organisational options to enhance shareholder value." | 1gw
11/2/2016 16:29 | Hahaha I guess it could...not too many insto's left in this one | buffettjnr
11/2/2016 16:16 | Does it mean too many lazy institutional investors in some of those stocks? Only kidding. | 1gw
11/2/2016 15:23 | Might regret that decision...2.2m shares traded yesterday. When markets collapse but a few stocks stay flat or rise, it means only one thing... | buffettjnr
11/2/2016 15:17 | Sold a few today to raise funds for buying a stock that has been beaten down rather more over the last few weeks. | 1gw
13/1/2016 10:05 | Activists 1 Menzies board 0 | buffettjnr
13/1/2016 09:06 | Well Stafford didn't last long, did he? The most interesting part of that statement this morning for me was perhaps: "The Board of John Menzies plc will continue to review its strategic and organisational options to enhance shareholder value." Given a paragraph of its own, that to me suggests that they are taking the Lakestreet argument (on splitting the company) a bit more seriously now. [Edit: previous comment on appointing replacement from within was incorrect - Forsyth Black has been moved from distribution to aviation - leaving open the possibility of recruiting a new CEO from outside the company or indeed splitting the business as is.] I also wonder if rumours about Stafford going might have contributed to recent shareprice weakness. Good to see that the business remained on track in 4Q and that Gatwick negotiations were concluded satisfactorily - hopefully setting things up nicely for a bounce back in 2016. | 1gw
12/1/2016 09:49 | Bought some more at £3.83. | 1gw
06/1/2016 17:37 | I wonder who is selling? Family peut-être? | buffettjnr
06/1/2016 16:23 | Good volume this afternoon. | 1gw
04/1/2016 12:16 | Also buying...with the few pennies I have left from an expensive Christmas. | buffettjnr
04/1/2016 10:59 | Bought some more at 406p, following the activist and hoping for a good update later this month. | 1gw
29/12/2015 19:49 | I thought the "risk" was that they were selling? Stupid. Someone else is buying... | buffettjnr
23/12/2015 05:29 | Well let's see. Volumes yesterday were high... | buffettjnr
22/12/2015 21:23 | Interesting how the shares have suddenly risen. My guess is that it relates to the hedge fund that caused the stir earlier this year. Either they need the end-year price better or they are planning to stir again. Support, or lack of it, soon after Dec 31 might be a pointer. Sorry that doesn't help: as a stale bull, I'm just watching also. | coolen
22/12/2015 07:59 | The company was in the market in a small way yesterday, possibly buying shares for a maturing employee share scheme? "John Menzies PLC announces that, on 21 December 2015, it purchased through Numis Securities Limited 12,425 ordinary shares of 25p each at an average price of 398.625 pence per share. The purchased shares will all be held as treasury shares. " | 1gw
03/12/2015 09:44 | Oh yes. Amazing opportunity | buffettjnr
03/12/2015 08:16 | According to my records I bought some at £1.16 (including costs) in 2008. | 1gw
03/12/2015 03:02 | When was it £3 before? I don't remember it being that low... | buffettjnr
03/12/2015 00:02 | I can see this at £3 again red arrow away I dont give a....F | my retirement fund
29/11/2015 13:54 | Perhaps it was the weakness leading up to the 5% profit warning? The share has fallen from 515p to 370p since the results. I wonder if the market is not being slow to place a realistic value on the delivery business and re-rating the aviation business. The problem with Gatwick will not recur in 2016. But don't worry, I doubt Menzies will be around in its current form a year from now. | buffettjnr
29/11/2015 13:21 | Given the size of the profit warning I am surprised this has not fallen further - or is the market in slow mo waking up to the 2M short fall and 6M additional expenses which will painfully appear in next years accounts. | my retirement fund |
