This is an interesting article relating to the potential market for 3D sensing market! This relates to my previous posts about Smartphone manufacturers incorporating project tango into new handsets! Apple is rumoured to be using this tech in the iphone8 due later this year to coincide with the iPhones 10th Anniversary! This could be huge for IQE.hTTps://optics.org/news/8/2/7If the link doesn't work could somebody repost it please! They never seem to work for me.....boohoo boohoo! Thanks!

Interesting re Potts & Griffiths. Anyone seen any other broker targets / Last ones I can find are

or have a target from another source - Agreed IQE could be cheap at 150% + of the current price to a Yank takeover.

I seem to remember being in a stock where people were trying to get an answer from Katie Potts, as the share price tanked, with no (luck?). Can't remember, but quite honestly all these names crop up again and again, positively when things are good and negatively when they are bad so imo, best to take no notice.

One thing is for sure. For the right amount of dosh, they will sell to anyone.

Intrigue ...what! :-)

MM's make a market - it's as simple as that, although many PI's insist on believing in conspiracy theories, usually of course when their holdings are heading south ;-)

So simply - if the share price goes UP there MUST be more buys than sells, yet we have had news that 2 big holders have been selling. I agree that it must be a large buyer/ buyers , yet we have not had an announcement , it must be imminent. Katie Potts has sold far less than Richard Griffiths , I believe this indicates that Griffiths is done with his selling and Potts was willing to provide the 'as yet unknown buyer' with a secondary supply.

I just wonder whether it's our biggest shareholder and they are going Stateside?, we should know soon

second "major" holder unloading stock / profit taking. Whose mopping them up as the share price is still healthy. Can't be PI's ?

Great to see Katie Potts's Herald Investment trust picking up, probably Mr Griffiths sales from last week. She has an excellent record of picking tech winners.

Hang on, wasn't it you that told me everything IQE do will increase profits, or something like that ?

Or was there a Yes Minister 'in the fullness of time' missing off the end ;-)

I was trying to find a chart of the LDMOS rate of adoption but I've failed in the 10 mins I spent. Will try and find something later that shows the sort of adoption rate I'd expect for GaN base station products.

i think a lot of people are getting confused about GAN - GAN is simply gallium nitride, its a very difficult 'substrate' to work with and its costs over the incumbent is prohibitive, its a bit pointless getting excited about GAN per-se. I agree somewhat with Sheepy , the market is evolving and ripening and will happen but time is needed.

as for naming customers , I think people are again getting confused , we are an epistaxial wafer provider and its the OEM's that utilise the wafer and make it into products that are then sold by the big names- so the cycle would be IQE-Skyworks-Apple

what we need to keep our eye out for is not GAN but GAN ON SILICON , especially where it utilises our cREO IP. This is where IQE will soon hopefully be revealing its partnership with Macom and others. Macom are already into the base-station market with GAN on silicon and hopefully will get into the massively lucrative power-switching market soon (its coming, its almost inevitable but it will take time)

hope that helps, lovely lovely chart , once again I hope we can consolidate here before some good news-flow in early March and then a kick-up-the -pants earnings results on the 21st March. The industries we provide for are either at an inflection point (GAN on silicon, solar for satellite) or already growing exponentially (photonics) and they are backed by a wireless division that this year should benefit enormously by having a surge of innovation ( VR, AR better laser functionality for cameras) and generally increased complexity all necessitating more and more CS material)

On the point of cameras in phones- i think in terms of megapixel performance they have gone as far as they can go ( who can differentiate between 12,15,18?? and performance limited by lens) , where the companies WILL be fighting it out will be in the laser functionality, flash 'dark lighting' etc - all DEMANDING the materials IQE provide :-)

enough for a day or two

yump - so true.

Love the companies that only provide news when it matters e.g. KWS ACSO BUR ..... then on the opposite scale you get CTAG and the like

I'm well up to speed thanks. I think people are getting far too excited about stuff than won't start ramping in any % volume for a long time.

Sheep_Herder, have a read of the transcript of MACOM's recent conference call as posted here - you might want to rethink about the timeframe for GaN...

"Shareholders want a lot more than just figures"? I'll take the figures thanks.

You're never going to see full disclosure in this industry - it never happens. The GaN market is still 3+ years from gaining steam so I wouldn't worry too much about it for now.

GaN clearly creates future interest so hopefully IQE will will elaborate on their customer base when delivering results shortly. Shareholders want a lot more than just figures, unless confidentiality agreements prohibit info.

Navitas Semiconductor looks like a very interesting company.

Unfortunately it's not listed so we can't get a slice of the pie.

Unless we are via IQE of course.

Blinx rebranded simply because it was outed by Ben Edelman for it's underhand advertising 'techniques'.

The business has very much changed since then in a rapidly evolving digital advertising market. Still same CEO though ! They do actually look a good recovery play for trading on the long side but probably not a good long term investment.

As for IQE (seeing as this is the IQE BB) I'm very active each day on Level 2. At times the shareprice moves as a result of my trades. I like it. No position right this minute but still very much buying every single dip in the shareprice. The shareprice could (and should) trend upwards for months and months and months yet.

Just my opinions (From an American Idiot who isn't even American nor an idiot!)

I love that when companies that have messed up or got over-hyped (that's polite) change their names. So presumably Blinkx are now a music publisher ? (Sorry, instead of over-hyped I should have said "failed to change the entire world, as promised")

Anyway the IQE share price is being managed by the Grand Old Duke of York by the look of it.
