darkdogs, nice find! This is a really good, easy to understand article about how GaN on Si will replace magnetrons in industrial and domestic microwave ovens! This market is huge and it is only 1 of the applications for GaN on Si. The RF Energy Alliance is working with some major players in the white goods industry to bring this technology to market......check out their website to see who is involved! Macom and Cardiff Uni to name just two! The Compound Semiconductor Centre ( who is a joint venture between IQE and Cardiff Uni) has indicated it could create up to 5000 jobs in the future! The pieces of the jigsaw are coming together!

o/t in case you didn't know, new year is good for bike discount sales if you're happy with a 2016 bike - quite a few of the larger retailers overstock, even with the well-reviewed bikes and they're already stocking 2017 bikes, so the 2016 ones are cluttering up the shops. I usually do a search for brand/bike name + sale to see what pops up.

Can you tell I have too many bikes ;-)

DR_SMITHI think you'll find IQE's involvement with Philips was to supply vcsel wafers for their industrial heating applications and possibly medical. Recently Philips doubled capacity for their vcsel line which is very encouraging although IQE's PR team failed yet again to exploit this news!

Slightly off topic..
Well 12th Jan is my Birthday..may be getting a new Mountain bike..maybe the news will pay for it...sorry.. am I underplaying it... OK.. lets make that a gold plated mountain bike but I was trying to keep the weight down. ;-)

So the trading statement won't come Friday
If they do a December statement it will be tomorrow or Wednesday , Thursday much less likely......or we wait to my preferred date of 11-12th Jan

Someone asked why Tuesd or Wednesday - well it gives management time to talk to analysts , meet and discuss with their major investors and hopefully ( this time) do a bit of good PR, before the week is over.

Is the conclusion that IQE mainly has the interest of ADVFN traders (ie. during the week), or is it just that everyone is Christmas shopping or at Church ?

Always interesting to see the difference between the volume of posts during the week cf. to the weekend on any stocks if you're a LTBH'er.

Quite handy if you're going to trade a bit while keeping a core holding. Nobody trading wants a stable stock.

I still hold IQE and happen to believe IQE has a lot going for it in the future, as long as it actually grows, rather than constantly just finding new tech. replacement sales for older tech.

That has been the hope for quite a while now and we are still waiting for delivery.

So it has not taken off yet.

I'm afraid I become very cynical about threads when they contain logos and no fundamentals.

Yump has been here a while wilbur, he likes to look at all angles which is fine and good but tends to sell out too soon and the regret turns his posts to sour grape de-ramp from my experience. Is that the point you're at Yump?
