Barclays Barclay brothers lift InterContinental Hotels stake to 10 pct

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (IHG) said
Ellerman Corp Ltd, the investment vehicle of the reclusive Barclay brothers, has
lifted its shareholding in IHG to 10 pct from 8.2 pct.
Ellerman now holds 29.92 mln shares in IHG.
Last month, IHG had shrugged aside potential takeover interest in the
company and said it had "no idea" what the intentions of the Barclay brothers
were in relation to their recent stake-building moves.
Ellerman Corp had steadily been increasing its shareholding in IHG for the
past few months.

Oops...well that blew my theory out of the water. Sold out as they seem to have nothing on the table at the moment, and cashing in options doesn't seem so good.

Only buttons down so will move on.

Looking good today....possible news on the horizon?

The company hasn't bought any shares back since the day of the initial bid rumours...maybe they now know something and can't do so?

His wife already has a hotel group to 'play' with. Its called Hand Picked Hotels.

And they try to grab the last penny. Suppose thats how he got so rich.

Could open your Sunday papers to see "Guy Hands in £16 a share hotel swoop"

Wouldn't that be nice?!

I suppose conversely, buying them back for cancellation could be quite shrewd as the remaining reduced share capital is attributed a higher value.

In any case, should have followed you out at £14 plus. I was poised on the button.

Lets see what tomorrows papers make of it. There's plenty of smoke.

Hear that it's been pretty "informed" buying, so could easily spike again. However, company just announced that they've been buying back shares so they know nothing!
