I see what you mean but the company have been creating a production line so they seem determined to manufacture. It might be a lot better for the company to sub-contract manufacturing to a Asian or Chinese corporate to save costs before trying to manufacture themselves.

Even so the business has so far created a wealth of opportunities from its R&D some of which could be commercialised for vertical market products.

ibug, I don't see it matters much ... if IEH, through a partnership have helped (and paid to help) a manufacturer design their own HFCs utilising tech which IEH license to them. IEH makes dosh. In some ways, it's reassuring IEH focus on the tech rather than getting involved in manufacturing for others which is perhaps best left to others who specialise in such things. The whole business model for IEH seems to be R&D and licensing what they can patent with a few exceptions.

Dean I inferred that one commercial contract win would be a real boost to the share price and the credibility of the business. Because the company has been funded by five motor manufacturers to the tune of millions; surely they would want to continue a working relationship with IEH?.

ibug wrote "Since IEH have a good working relationship with five major motor firms they might land a commercial deal once Asian H2 cars swing into production next year."

Well, it would be really WEIRD if IEH managed to partner with that many firms and not generate ANY income from licensing their patents! Even if car firms are making their own HFCs (like Toyota), if the HFCs are based even partly on technology patented by IEH, IEH generate an income from their patents and IEH have always been clear they don't see themselves much as a manufacturer of HFCs ... using a business model that leans more to what ARM did, hence the people from ARM on the BOD.

I STILL think EH could be a take-over target by a company that prefers to own the company owning the patents or IEH MAY do what Ballard did and simply sell the rights to some patents heavily used by one of IEH's partners. It's an interesting field.

It seems the value of IEHs patents was part of the analysis that resulted in IEH shares being given a target of over 4 quid a year or two ago. We have to ask if all that analysis by brokers was wrong and if so, why?

I wonder how far Suzuki are from mass producing the HFC moped? TATA's HFC powered micro car (an HFC moped with a body round it ... kind of) might fly if India can run an incentive scheme encouraging new buyers and existing users to switch leaving those who don't change from polluting vehicles to fund the early adopters of zero emission vehicles.

Norbus, yes. Hopefully the trimming of the workforce and the new BOD's focus on "following the money" will make a positive difference. Fortunately, there is still LOADS of the planet which is under-developed and rather than generating electricity centrally and sending it over miles of copper cable on pylons, producing hydrogen locally and stuffing it into HFCs will make far more sense in some cases. We'll see. Certainly, the recent scares in India and China re air quality will increase political pressure for emerging economies to plan for the future of their air quality. Unfettered economic growth fuelled by hydrocarbons obviously has its drawbacks and in the developed world there is a lot of environmental damage from burning hydrocarbons that needs reversing.

I reckon the "emerging smartphone manufacturer" is the Turing Phone Company who have an interesting business model bypassing retailers, using their own hyper secure OS and supplying phones direct to punters. They announced a smartphone running partly on hydrogen a few months back. Maybe they will supply the hydrogen phone with a cartridge which will refill the phone for about 6 months and supply new cartridges direct. That could be quite a nice money spinner creating an income stream from owners of the hydrogen phones. Who knows? Still, I presume something must be in the offing otherwise IEH would not be advertising for workers who can run projects and work on the cartridges.

I also think the cartridges might be used by SpacEx and / or NASA who operate out of the same area in the US. I know the area. I am there at least once a year ... been to Port Canaveral twice. I'm there again in January and may see if i can visit a facility and see what I can glean.

New fuel cell vehicles to be launched in 2020

Lexus has plans to launch its first fuel cell vehicle in 2020. The Japanese luxury automaker has been experimenting with hydrogen fuel cells for some time. The company believes that these energy systems hold a great deal of promise and can be used to make vehicles much more environmentally friendly.

Thus far, Lexus has not showcased a prototype model of its forthcoming fuel cell vehicle, but the company will likely unveil such a prototype in the near future in order to generate more interest in the vehicle.

Lexus has already showcased its hydrogen fuel cells

While Lexus has not yet shown off its new fuel cell vehicle, it did reveal a concept car equipped with a hydrogen fuel cell system in 2015. The concept car was equipped with a fuel cell system that is used to power its rear wheels.

The front wheels are powered by in-wheel motors. There are no plans to bring this specific vehicle to the commercial market, but the technology used in the vehicle may power future models being produced by Lexus.

World's Only Pipeline-Supplied Hydrogen Fueling Station to be Redesigned for Retail Customers and Increased Vehicle Fuelings

LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa.-- Air Products (NYSE: APD) was selected by Equilon Enterprises, LLC, a subsidiary of Shell Oil Products U.S., to upgrade Shell's hydrogen refueling station in Torrance, California, to a state-of-the-art 200-kilogram-per-day retail station. The project requires installation of new hydrogen compression, purification, cooling and dispenser technology. The upgrade will convert the station from non-retail to retail status and help improve vehicle filling performance and consumer interaction.

The upgraded station will have the fueling capacity of 200 kilograms of hydrogen per 12-hour day (the equivalent of 200 gallons of gasoline per day). The newly designed dispensers will allow retail fuelings, which means the accuracy of the quantity of fuel delivered will be in compliance with the latest California Division of Measurement and Standards, and the consumer will be able to pay for the hydrogen at the station. Additionally, the station will be designed to provide 350-bar (5,000 psi) and 700-bar (10,000 psi) vehicle fuelings, allow two cars to be fueled simultaneously, and enable three back-to-back vehicle fills per dispenser.

"The need to upgrade this station is a reflection that the use of hydrogen as a clean and sustainable transportation fuel is here today and really taking hold," said Nick Mittica, commercial business manager, Hydrogen Energy Systems, at Air Products. "Air Products is proud of the critical role we play in providing our proprietary technology for the hydrogen fueling market to support both today's hydrogen-powered vehicles and the vehicles that will continue to be rolled out by major automobile manufacturers in the months and years to come."

"The Torrance pipeline station has been the backbone of hydrogen refueling in Southern California for a long time, so it is encouraging to see the station upgraded," said Oliver Bishop, General Manager, Hydrogen, at Shell. "Hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles are one of the technological innovations that can help improve air quality while offering convenience for motorists. We welcome more of these vehicles at our stations."

At the moment the only sector generating (pun not intended) revenue of any serious note for IEH is the DP&G part of the group. They need to increase this revenue stream and turn the others 'on' as well. Otherwise they will run out of money in 13-15 months time.

Wise insight; things do not move fast in this world, and the board hajji hedgie who rescue funded with £30m con ln stk @8p screwed them. reminds me of CAP; Great product micro-pilot for clean diesel burn,EPA approved, great innovation after 20 years research, practically about to supply to OEM ISUZU and likely Navistar, ran out of cash and could raise no more

Here is an earlier reference:

The fuel cell cartridge design engineer is expected to work on Merrit Island near Orlando, Florida.

I did some digging on that and there may be some connection with a camping gas cartridge manufacturer but I cannot find much else info.

However the job vacancy points to a commitment by IEH to make hydrogen gas cartridges for consumer electronics, i.e. phones, drones, laptops and Industrial IoT applications. This signals a strong possibility of an impending order for small fuel cells = high production numbers imo.

Just found the first reference material dating back to early October:

The connection with Orlando, Florida might be the fact that Praxair are located there. The company produces a wide range of gasses including compressed hydrogen.

PRAXAIR STARTS UP NEW HYDROGEN PLANT IN PERU
October 04, 2016

DANBURY, Conn., October 4, 2016 – Praxair, Inc. (NYSE: PX), a leading global industrial gas company, announced today that it has started up a hydrogen plant for Repsol, one of the world’s largest producers of hydrocarbon fuels and petrochemicals.

This company mass produces hydrogen and delivers it in cartridges, trucks or even a pipeline. No wonder IEH will locate a cartridge designer nearby.

The job has dropped off the IEH web site since the end of October, I presume the vacancy has been filled.

Therefore the company is pursuing H2 cartridge refilling of small devices.

I will try to look at posts related to that event for documentary information.

I tracked the ad for some time intrigued by the location and tracked it to be adjacent to Orlando, Florida. The strange thing about the appointment was the employee was to be located on an island just offshore Orlando.

That is the suspected partner to fill cartridges with H2 for IEH for their DRONE AND PHONE recharging tech that just takes seconds.

A gas cartridge design engineer was appointed a month ago working out of a Florida office presumably because the worlds largest gas supplier/ manufacturer is based in Orlando. So we should hear something about that also.

The cartridges will be aimed at the phone and drone markets -- if their concept becomes successful mainstream the stock will boom imo.

THE COMPANY HAVE SAID THAT A LOT OF INTEREST WAS SHOWN AT THE Las Vegas drone show in September. They spent an extra few weeks there to firm up some deals with OEM's and the company started marketing/ partnering a few months ago.

If the company start to get commercial contracts then they should update the markets fairly soon.

ITM had a show at Hanover in April; Still waiting. This sad company has technology but suffered Hubris and lack of control over cash and time. Really sad if it does not pull through.

The serious prospect is in engines for Taxis , cars and bikes ..
