20/9/2016 14:18 | Fuel cell vehicles may outpace battery electrics in the coming years Posted on 20 September 2016. Report highlights the growing popularity of fuel cell vehicles Vehicles equipped with hydrogen fuel cells are on track to catch up with battery electric vehicles in the coming years, according to the Global Market for Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles report. The report notes that fuel cell vehicles have several advantages over their battery-powered counterparts. One of these advantages has to do with fueling. While electric vehicles can take several hours to fully charge, those equipped with hydrogen fuel cells only take minutes to fuel completely. This has proven to be a major selling point among consumers. Better infrastructure support is needed for fuel cell vehicles to find success The report predicts that fuel cell vehicles represent the future of clean transportation. The highly efficient nature of these vehicles has made them attractive to consumers throughout the world. The problem, however, is that much of the world lacks a comprehensive hydrogen fuel infrastructure. Despite the appeal of fuel cell vehicles, their ultimate success will largely hinge upon the availability of hydrogen fuel. As such, many countries and automakers have begun investing more heavily in the development of hydrogen fuel stations in order to support these vehicles. | ibug
20/9/2016 09:35 | As I have said before the company have been funded over the past couple of years by four major Asian car manufacturers who produce a million cars a year each to produce an HFC for their car industry. When that development cycle finishes, which it may have, then it is reasonable to expect a manufacturing contract to be awarded. The company developed a 90KW HFC specifically for cars. Some car firms like Hyundai, Honda and Toyota are planning to produce about 15,000 HFC cars next year followed by 250,000 cars in 2018. Their HFC supplier will need to be getting an order very soon before the manufacturing process starts. It is interesting to note that IEH advertised for a Programme Manager focused on the automotive industry to form a project team last month. Also, at the beginning of September the company advertised for a Purchasing Manager with experience of high volume production. It looks like both positions have been filled as the jobs were removed from their web site a few weeks ago. Therefore it is expected that production will be in the order of thousands of HFC's and not tens, or units. | ibug
20/9/2016 09:24 | @ibug define production... Surely if the Toyota Mirai has IEH tech in it then that is in production already. I'll try and get some answers - but I'm sure they'd be shouting about things if they could do. The answer will of course depend on the question posed. | filster
20/9/2016 09:19 | There is a major car show in Europe early next month where some HFC powered cars will be released for the first time. So hopefully that might coincide with a production contract for IEH. | ibug
20/9/2016 09:02 | Feels like there's a Buy going through at the moment - based on the trades so far and the price movement. Where's Dean gone?? | filster
20/9/2016 08:49 | HERE IS A RECAP OF NEWS FROM LAST YEAR ABOUT THE CAR INDUSTRY --- when the company gets a production contract the revenue may be huge imo. 30 September 2015 (LSE: IEH; ADR: INGYY) &n Intelligent Energy Holdings plc INTELLIGENT ENERGY EXTENDS ITS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME WITH EXISTING ASIAN AUTOMOTIVE CUSTOMER Intelligent Energy ("IE"), the energy technology group, is pleased to confirm it has extended its joint development programme with one of its existing Asian automotive OEM customers. The new contract is worth c£6.5 million (c$10m) and is expected to last for approximately two and a half years. The new joint development programme marks another step in IE's long-standing links with the Asian automotive market where fuel cell electric vehicle commercialisation has started with the arrival of consumer products on the market. It will see further alignment of Intelligent Energy's differentiated fuel cell engine technology to the customer's product roadmaps. IE currently works with nearly 25% of the largest global car OEMs (who each make more than 1,000,000 cars a year) allowing those OEMs to leverage IE's technology and intellectual property portfolio. Henri Winand, CEO of Intelligent Energy, said: "We are very pleased to strengthen our existing commercial relationships with our Asian automotive OEMs. This allows a continued drive towards commercialisation of our fuel cell technology in our customer's product range. It is also a vote of confidence in our technology as the roll out of fuel cell electric vehicles increases pace as fuel cell electric vehicles hit the market now. Asia continues to take the lead globally in the adoption of fuel cell engine technology for automotive use and we are excited to be an integral part of this global adoption through our relationships with a number of Asian OEMs." | ibug

19/9/2016 13:51 | Toyota begins using fuel cells to power new facility in Toyota City Japanese automaker Toyota has installed stationary hydrogen fuel cells at a new energy management facility located in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture. The automaker is making progress with its Plant Zero CO2 Emission Challenge, which was announced in 2015. Through this initiative, Toyota plans to ensure that the new energy management facility is completely reliant on renewable energy. The facility will not generate power through conventional methods, instead focusing on clean technologies, such as hydrogen fuel cells. Hydrogen fuel cells to provide electricity without producing emissions Toyota has a history with fuel cell technology. These energy systems are capable of generating electrical power without producing harmful emissions. This has made them attractive energy solutions for indoor and industrial use. Toyota has been using fuel cells to power a new generation of vehicles, but the automaker believes that fuel cells could also become very useful primary energy solutions. Toyota is also embracing other forms of renewable energy, such as solar and wind power. | ibug
19/9/2016 12:42 | Notice of Capital Markets event Intelligent Energy Holdings plc, the energy technology company, announces that it will host a capital markets event for analysts and investors on Wednesday 21 September 2016 at its headquarters in Loughborough. The event will consist of both presentations by executive and operational management and demonstrations of the technology. The presentations will focus on the new strategy led by Group Chief Executive Martin Bloom as well as provide an update on the restructuring of the business and the commercial opportunities which are being pursued. Further details relating to the event will be available on the investor section of the Company's website in due course. | ibug
19/9/2016 12:31 | To explain the restructuring plan implemented last June and what the business focus is going to be from now on as the company is beginning to commercialise its product range. They have collaborations with a wide range of large corporations that include four major car manufacturers who each produce a million cars each year. When they start manufacturing HFC cars they will most likely follow the same sort of strategy as Hyundai who will start manufacturing 250,000 cars /year. So there may be some important news on Wednesday that might propel the share price to much higher levels imo. | ibug
19/9/2016 12:20 | They've called an investors meeting for this Wednesday WHY?.... | mrphiljones
19/9/2016 10:30 | Shell getting greener In fact, the 109-year-old oil giant sees itself becoming gradually greener. “As we have explained to our investors, new energies like wind, hydrogen and biofuels will become essential parts of our portfolio over time,” van Beurden said. But despite dire warnings by scientists of the potential for a climate catastrophe if the rise in temperatures isn’t curbed relatively soon, and his own company’s acknowledgment of the problem, van Beurden cautions that suggestions of a quick fix can be deceptive. “In other words,” he concluded, “this century’s landscape will inevitably be a patchwork of renewables and hydrocarbons. Or, to put it differently, some level of emissions will remain for some time.” | ibug
19/9/2016 09:38 | It may be said there is a good chance that hydrogen power innovators like ITM and IEH are going to be bought out by major oil/ gas producers. Oil and gas producers will be having reducing revenues from 2018 as pressure grows from global warming/ anti pollution politics so it makes sense for them to extend their portfolios to include hydrogen at their filling stations. And to achieve that through acquisitions of relatively small businesses before the market takes off. | ibug

16/9/2016 14:03 | filster --- I hope that answered some of your questions....we all have opinions and ideas; that is what is fascinating about people. Pollution will be a lot lower, but the next biggest polluter is oil based plastic. Plastic made from starch looks the same and is biodegradable. The human journey; to reduce pollution will be a long and hard journey of social evolution. FILSTER --- DO YOU KNOW HOW TO MAKE HYDROGEN NOW....lol | ibug
16/9/2016 13:45 | Hmmmm.... that doesn't sound like we're 'leaving behind the world of fossils fuels and pollution' to me... | filster
16/9/2016 13:31 | In other words various means and methods of electrolysis using various electrolyte including of course water. IEH have used a mix of aluminium oxide and water plus a few other elements during experiments. | ibug |
