Founded in 1996, IMD is the UK's leading and longest established distributor of advertising commercials, music videos and data to TV & Radio broadcasters. Leporello, the revolutionary online tool for motion picture images and digital data, will work with IMD as the supplier for the digital distribution of TV commercials in Germany. Leporello, which is currently employed by several major advertising agencies and post production companies, will integrate with IMD to offer its clients a fully comprehensive, high quality, faster and more accurate advertising delivery service. Leporello's Managing Director Nabil Moghib commented: "I have worked closely with IMD for several months and am convinced that they will be able to offer the highest quality service possible for Leporello's clients. IMD is already distributing commercials digitally to two key German broadcasters and currently has installations underway at two more major broadcasters. As more broadcasters connect to IMD's True Digital Delivery TM system, IMD expects to have full coverage of the German TV market by the end of 2007. 31/8/2007 13:40 | Dated 20th Aug, but as far as i'm aware only just appeared on IMD's site. IMD LAUNCHES TAPELESS DIGITAL DISTRIBUTION SERVICE FOR TV COMMERCIALS IN GERMANY WITH SIGNING OF FIRST MAJOR CLIENT PICTORION das werk Independent Media Distribution plc (IMD) launches its digital distribution service for TV commercials in Germany as it signs first major client PICTORION das werk. Founded in 1996, IMD is the UK's leading and longest established distributor of advertising commercials, music videos and data to TV & Radio broadcasters. PICTORION das werk, one of Germany's top post production groups, will work with IMD as its preferred supplier of digital distribution services for TV commercials, in Germany, with immediate effect. The Group, which has offices in Hamburg, Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Cologne and Munich, will integrate with IMD to offer its clients a fully comprehensive, high quality, faster and more accurate advertising delivery service. Continuing its strong investment strategy and its buoyant trading in the UK, IMD is now able to develop its business beyond the UK into mainland Europe, where digital distribution into TV broadcasters is almost non-existent. In Germany, almost 95% of all TV commercials are delivered on video tape by overnight couriers. IMD has pioneered True Digital Delivery TM used in the UK by several broadcasters including ITV. True Digital DeliveryTM is a digital file based delivery system, which helps broadcasters as well as post production houses by reducing the cost and time involved in handling video tape. This benefit is maximised for broadcasters as the file that is delivered is already in the right format for transmission and requires no further work. The deal will allow IMD to distribute commercials to two key German broadcasters. As broadcasters connect to IMD's True Digital Delivery TM system, IMD expects to have full coverage of the German TV market by the end of 2007. Simon Cox, CEO of IMD commented, "We are absolutely delighted to have reached a landmark agreement with das werk, one of the pre-eminent post production groups in Germany and look forward to working with them to bring the benefits of digital delivery of commercials to their clients and German broadcasters". Michael Endres, MD of PICTORION das werk added, "We chose IMD because of its track record and high quality reputation, which fits both our requirements and the needs of the German market today. The future is digital delivery of TV content, and IMD is the right partner to help us deliver this to our clients." -ends- Further information from: Ross Priestley, Director of Business Development, IMD +44 (0) 207 468 6891 / ross@imdplc.com Michael Endres, Managing Director, PICTORION das werk GmbH +49 (0) 69973530 / m.endres@das-werk.de Lorette Nettar, IMD (Trade PR) +44 (0) 7968 521 684 / lorette@hspr.com Hudson Sandler PR Alistair Mackinnon-Musson/Nic Editor's Notes IMD is the UK & ROI's leading media logistics company distributing over 50% of all radio and TV commercials. 08/8/2007 14:01 | The share price seems to dropping a bit this week. Anybody know why? Thought the trading statement sounded good unless the European cost of new network frightened them away. | veryniceperson
02/8/2007 16:59 | Hi games Certainly think there is more takeovers to come. Think start up cost could be hardware but not sure. They had start up costs when they built the Irish network. Here's a snippet from a trading statement from October 2004. There have been a number of non-recurring costs in establishing the TV service together with the unbudgeted costs of opening the Irish network. It has always been company policy to write off start up costs when incurred and these additional costs are expected to amount to approximately #260,000. The situation with Television, in particular, is evolving rapidly and shareholders will be kept informed as the service continues to develop. Here is the link Hope this helps in some way. | veryniceperson
02/8/2007 11:00 | vnp, their was also mention of Spain (along with Germany posted above) a couple of months ago on some companies Aim News letter. Does "start up costs" imply they have not found any suitable takeovers, or if they are planning on more than a couple of countries maybe it is more cost effective. | games

02/8/2007 07:47 | Its always bloody good news when a company states that is performing ahead of the boards expectations, specially when an FD has brought shares and results are a month away. "Since the statement made at the time of the Group's Annual General Meeting on 25 May 2007, IMD has continued to trade strongly and profitably and ahead of the Board's expectations. Although the second half results will have to absorb start up costs from the Group's entry into Europe, where development plans have been brought forward, the outlook for the current financial year is positive." "IMD will announce its Interim results for the six months to 30 June 2007 on Monday 3 September 2007." | ro4dhog

IPA to tackle burden of digital buying Mediaweek: 22 May 2007 The Institute of Practitioners in Advertising has resolved to tackle the "burden" of administration involved in media buying that industry leaders have identified as one of the main reasons behind media agencies losing money on digital buying. Nigel Gwilliam, head of digital at the IPA, said that the trade body has discussed the issue and that action will be taken to streamline processes involved in digital media buying. He said: "We've been talking about reducing admin because it is such a burden in digital media buying. The job has been done with TV and radio and now we're looking at online. "Several groups have shown an interest, including Mediatel and Optimad. We're at an early stage, but it's very important to streamline the processes involved in online." -------------------- ps, was any forcasts updated for 07 after the last statement. TIA. | games
