Posted at 07/6/2011 09:07 by grahamite2 #6598 thanks MJ. Maintaining rates at existing levels is clearly not a tax cut.#6606 thanks Pinkey, I had already looked at that one. Those tax cuts gave across the board benefits, with those at the bottom getting most. For instance, the top marginal rate level went up only 1.6% while the level for total exemption i.e. a 0% rate went up 16.6%. The capital gains and dividend provisions benefited all holders of stocks, not just the rich. If something "disproportionately benefits the wealthier" that is not at all the same as "tax cuts for the rich." Someone struggling along on 10 grand a year no doubt thinks of someone on 30k as rich - but ask that guy on 30k if he thinks he's rich and he'd laugh in your face. I am confirmed in my suspicion that there is no such thing as tax cuts for the rich. It is just teh dishonest rhetoric of teh hard left. |
Posted at 07/6/2011 08:48 by white fox Morning all.gra, tax cuts for the rich example: Not only are the marginal tax rates for higher earners reduced and those for lower earners not reduced by this act but the capital gains and dividend provisions would disproportionately benefit the wealthier, who are more likely to make capital gains and earn dividends. I show this as an example, not because I am against such provisions before anyone 'says'. |
