09/4/2007 10:25 | Sunday Express reporting that KKR with Mideast backing is going to bid for Dow Chemical. If true I hope it has a positive effect on ICI. Let's see. | whatwoman
05/4/2007 14:16 | Should a bid materialise, ICI will be sold for more than £6; more than likely it will even reach £7 with a contested bid. It is such a prized asset. Companies are prepared to pay a high price to protect their size, gain market share, gain synergies and have greater bargaining power when dealing with suppliers. Remember Corus, TATA got an agreed bid at £4.55, but ended up paying £6 and a few pence because of Brazilians counterbidding. I am holding and just cope with the ups and down of the market, whils't trying to make profits elsewhere. | whatwoman

04/4/2007 22:31 | Hi aussie, Yes, £9 would be nice. Just seen another headline under Bloomberg's ticker tape, and this time it says ICI rises on possible approach from Reliance. I can only assume they mean the giant Indian conglomerate Reliance Industries, who are very big in the Indian chemicals market. Anyway, they were wrong to say that ICI rose because it did the opposite and fell by a few pence. It will be lovely if Reliance, Dow Chemical and Akzo fought over it, and made me some money. I could also add two other names; BASF and Dupont. Presumably the share price will fall tomorrow in view of the long weekend holiday. All the best | whatwoman
04/4/2007 18:10 | Wow that would be nice, I think maybe £9 in the next year or two. | aussiedonnie
04/4/2007 08:27 | ICI shares may also be supported by news Swiss fine chemicals company Givaudan this morning reported consensus-beating first quarter sales. Volume is high, but trade sizes are small. | miata
03/4/2007 23:58 | if dow chem bids this will go like corus IMO. guess target 710p | chemical_ali
03/4/2007 21:01 | Another message passing under Bloomberg's ticker tape is that ICI's share price has shot up due to rumours of a takeover by Dow Chemical of the US. No objections to rumours as long as it keeps pushing the share price up. Trouble is if they are just rumours, then the share price suddenly falls back, when investors get fed up and unload. As I said before, the suspense is killing me. | whatwoman
03/4/2007 17:41 | And then it demerged Zeneca:-) At least we got equal shares in both. | deanforester
03/4/2007 17:36 | soon it will be back above a TENNER.............. | psps
03/4/2007 16:35 | Up 6% in a day, nice. A week after Akzo Nobel announced the sale of its Organon BioSciences business to Schering Plough Corp. for $14.4 billion, analysts told clients they believe the cash-rich Dutch company may be interested in ICI or Valspar. Akzo last week said it may use proceeds from the Organon sale to make acquisitions in the coatings business. Citigroup said the Dutch group's long-mooted acquisition of ICI is now feasible, boasts a compelling rationale and would generate "substantial" cost savings. Citigroup upgraded ICI to buy from hold. | miata |
