Well that wasn't the RNS I was expecting ;-), can't believe the Frenchman will be any great loss.
Looks like that RT shoulder is dislocating, unfortunately downwards :-)

Oh well, that's just IMG isn't it

Well unless we see the usual climb back very soon to unchanged by close, this looks like a leak ahead of possible statement.

New 2017 iPad looks a compelling proposition and has a sweet price point and a nice A9 processor.
I think one of Apple's main problems with iPad has been that past models for the majority of people have been so good they didn't upgrade, my wife and I still run on ipad2 -they are approaching old age and getting tiresomely slow, but boy have we got our money's worth.

The Sweenoid's will be having 2 of the new models that's for sure :-)

I see the eeTimes Europe, regurgitating the old Apple taking IMG staff (according to profiles on LinkedIn), boring stuff that someone decided was valid NEWS!!!

Edit: I note I forgot the link and have since deleted the received email, although I did check the date the article had been given, 21 March 2017 - strange!

I don't know the accuracy of the following, however if true it would suggest the new X30 mediatek isn't getting the customers it thought it would.

".....The 10-nm schedule for Samsung seems to be ahead of TSMC's 10-nm ramp-up for MediaTek (after numerous design-win cancellations by MediaTek's 10-nm customers) and Huawei/HiSilicon,” Lu said in the report. Previously, it was widely believed that TSMC was ahead of the competition, according to Lu."

That would be consistent with the following from fudzilla a month back:-

...and also a quote attributed to a mediatek VP made at MWC:-
"In a short presentation at its MWC booth Monday, Executive Vice President & Co-COO Jeffrey Ju stated that MediaTek expects only a limited number of phones to use the Helio X30, perhaps less than ten"

hxxp://www.anandtech.com/show/11201/qualcomm-snapdragon-835-performance-preview/

New snapdragon on 10nm is not exactly giving Apple a run for their money on the GPU end, especially considering Iphone 7plus has been on the market for 6+ months.

AMD really gunning for ARM Mali GPU infringements by SOC makers. This could be beneficial to IMG.

It seems you were right that the Softbank t/o of ARM would create opportunities for MIPS as per final paragraph of article.

I don’t get the “bundling” issue mentioned by Clarke. It seems to me he got that all wrong.

On the question of Intel replacing MIPS in Mobileye in the medium term the following link article suggests numerous reasons why that is unlikely. The long term is not worth worrying about as of now.

A bit of marketing (NVIDIA)I guess but seems to emphasise where GPU's can do the heavy lifting. Market for GPU's look good.

----------------------
"_As it turned out, 12 NVIDIA GPUs could deliver the deep-learning performance of 2,000 CPUs. Researchers at NYU, the University of Toronto, and the Swiss AI Lab accelerated their DNNs on GPUs. Then, the fireworks started."

if that right shoulder on the chart 'dislocates' upwards then it could be very significant , lets wait and see, anything can happen with the IMG share price but the common thread to amazing rallies has been a tick-up in sentiment. Most of the long termer's have almost lost the will to live (regarding IMG ) over the last few years , perhaps things are going to change, we will find out soon and I am not exactly over optimistic, but sentiment seems at a long term low at present judged by the lack of activity here. If that changes are we off to the races?

i just deleted 2 paragraphs of vitriolic bile aimed at the direction of our previous CEO and his acquisition/ partnership/ strategic mistakes- Ineda it seems now comes into that category.

Anyhow our new management are proving that they have business acumen- a lot of us were seething when we felt they 'gave away' TMZ , well that proved wise, as for 7Digital ( we still retain some holding I believe) I think that was prescient but we shall see, certainly from current evidence it was probably a good move. Pure had to go.

Anyhow, Millward and Heath are doing a very good job IMHO, the trading statement next Tues/Wed/Thursday will point the way for the chart until July 5th and finals, wouldn't it be nice if they can paint a nice picture, we certainly don't want an Edvard Munch though ;-)

With all those graphics licenses signed ,at least we can have expectations of some licensing revenue and with security being such an important issue, surely Omnishield can garner some business for MIPS?

woukd be nice to go on a nice bull rally wouldn't it ;-), just when all seemed lost

Remember Ineda, the company backed by IMG amongst others, designing innovative socs primiarly all based around 1 or more members of the MIPS family plus various other IMG IP ?

I'll not be surprised if you dont remember them. Although hyped greatly by many, including IMG (who are an investor), other that releasing 1 soc which is being using by samsung in an IOT platform, they've done little else.

It appears they are moving from IOT, and now describe themselves as working on automotive and IOT systems.

Of the 4 job vacancies listed in Jan of this year, including a platform architect, all of them list ARM experience as a requirement/responsibilitiy.

The word 'MIPS' doesn't appear in the job descriptions anywhere.

Ineda is increasingly looking like another dud from the HY crystal ball.
