Called the results for what they were K ;-) and also said I thought they would be well received ( not by you obviously) and the share price woukd go up

The share price is all I am interested here after 20 years, worn down researching , doing it elsewhere

Time for a foggy dog walk

Call what D ?

These are not great results but the kitchen sink'ing from last year and cost cutting has made them look better.

I am delighted about the share price but a real valuation based on profitability must happen at some point :-)

Some good stuff in there. What a relief. Maybe we are at a turning point.

I don't doubt it D - there's no rhyme nor reason is there :-))

It's not like I WANT IMG to do badly, I and many friends and acquaintances have a lot of cash tied up, I WANT success, but let's wake up guys, this lot are riding the positive stuff from the old days (X30, 8XE chips coming, current MIPS growth etc), have done the necessary cost cutting but are doing absolutely sod all to generate future growth at the moment so let's save the golden words til they've actually produced something.

Well that was a far better read than I expected, they acknowledge benefit of strong $ but that cost us some too with MIPS in US

Ensigma is particularly heartening and looking good-at last, comments re MIPS solid, outlook for graphics looks good long term

Obviously the financials need to be examined, but overall I think this report will be received well, I predict an up day

I was dreading the read, read it only once, but had no sinking feeling, perhaps our new CFO ANDCEO will turn this around-credit due , they have had hard decisions to make, I feel we are now on firmer ground -can you even imagine what things would have looked like with HY still in tenure!

Very pleased we are losing Nordberg too - fair does he had to manage the transition but was never latterly happy with him. Peter Hill is a tier 1 appointment, I am heartened that at 64 he wants to come to IMG , I sense that he must view IMG as a good prospect, otherwise why ruin his CV , legacy and reputation

I now actually look forward to the CC
There are warts , there are issues, but this is a solid report, much happier than at 6.59 ;-)

the amazing thing about tomorrow is that I am clueless as to the results, the content and the outlook, not good for someone who has a mountain of these shares
the last 5 sets of results have been a horror show, I have no idea what tomorrow will bring

hopefully the CC will include the Q+A's , at least we wont have to listen to HY deluding everyone with his repetitious fabrications of how he saw the market

please can some-one remind me - NOT Pottsey ! of how long Ray tracing has been disruptive , the only thing its been disruptive to is Imagineers sanity and the bottom line of the company!

Was supposed to be FY18 to see the new combined Mediatek/Spreadtrum volume. For now most of the new MTKs continue to be Mali:http://www.anandtech.com/show/10877/mediatek-adds-the-helio-x23-and-x27-soc

One has to wonder how much of that 17% relates to parts of the business now sold - and hopes it's a lot. The hoped for improvement at MTK wasn't supposed to appear til H2 I don't think. The only new chip from them isn't out til January is it ?

There is a press report on market.com that is saying our sales will be down 17% when results are announced next week - reasons stated are weakness with Intel and Mediatek ( I thought we were making a comeback with the latter) and decreased sales to Apple

It's a press report quotes multiple analysts who are sell side

I guess the key thing to look for next week as well as license revenue will be the ASP $ not pounds for obvious reasons

Can't say Tuesday is going to be a pleasant experience, but when have they cheered us in the last 4 years?

Taffy thanks (26591), browsed thru the text, looks interesting but will read more carefully to get a view of the practical use. Still shows innovation is still alive!

Well, looking at him, if he ever loses interest in technology he's got a career waiting for him as a Tory backbencher - although his YouTube appearances make him seem more Corbyn than Cameron :-))

Hopefully his off-screen performances are more confident.

Adreno 530 Tops Mobile GPUsBy Linley GwennapIn our newest comparison of mobile processors, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 tops the list in graphics performance. The chip's Adreno 530 GPU, which the company designed internally, not only leads in performance but is also smaller than other flagship GPUs, giving the design a big advantage in area efficiency (performance per square millimeter). Die area is an important metric, as it controls both cost and power, so Adreno's efficiency edge should benefit both customers and end users. The new iPhone 7 uses the Apple A10 Fusion processor, which contains a custom version of Imagination's PowerVR GT7600 GPU. Benchmark results posted to the GFXBench web site indicate gains of only 11% on Manhattan 3.0 and 7% on Manhattan 3.1. We believe the A10 runs its GPU at speeds as high as 900MHz.Many Galaxy S7 phones employ Samsung's own Exynos 8890 processor, which features a 12-core Mali-T880 GPU. This design is competitive on the GFXBench tests but trails both the Apple and Qualcomm GPUs. It's also larger, resulting in poor area efficiency. ARM's Mali GPUs appear in many other mobile processors; to save die area, however, chips such as Huawei's Kirin 955 and MediaTek's Helio X20 use smaller configurations and thus yield much lower performance.Imagination's PowerVR GPUs have nearly disappeared from the current generation of phones. Excluding Apple's in-house models, the only other mainstream or high-end processor using PowerVR is the Helio X10, which features a two-core G6200 that scores just 5.5fps on Manhattan 3.1. For this comparison, we have excluded processors from Intel and Nvidia, as neither company offers them for smartphones or standard Android tablets. Vivante GPUs (now owned by VeriSilicon) have yet to appear in a mainstream phone, leaving us to focus on the most recent Apple GPU, ARM Mali, and Qualcomm Adreno to reach the market.Mobile Chip Report subscribers can access the full article:http://www.linleygroup.com/mpr/article.php?id=11710Apple Turbocharges PowerVR GPUBy Linley GwennapAccording to our analysis, Apple has customized its version of Imagination's PowerVR GPU to achieve very high clock speeds, likely around 900MHz. At its peak speed, the GPU outperforms that of all other high-end smartphone processors. The problem, however, is that it can't sustain this peak performance for very long.Apple's A10 Fusion processor, which powers the new iPhone 7, uses the same PowerVR GT7600 GPU as last year's A9 processor, again in a six-core configuration. Thus, the most likely method for improving performance is boosting the clock speed. The company promised a 50% graphics-performance gain between the iPhone 6s, which uses the A9 chip, and the new iPhone, so we postulate a 50% clock-speed increase, an unusually large jump from one generation to the next. Some test results support Apple's performance goal, but others do not. Futuremark's Ice Storm Unlimited benchmark shows a 50.4% increase on the Graphics test but only 18.9% on the Physics test. More worrisome is that tests using GFXBench 3.1 (Manhattan) show an increase of only 7.8% on the median score, although the top score rises by 49.8%. These latter results mean some users are seeing the promised performance gains on GFXBench, but most are not. We believe the iPhone 7, to avoid overheating, throttles back from its top GPU speed after a minute or less, preventing it from achieving a high score for all users. To push the graphics clock speed to such heights, we believe Apple implemented a custom version of the GT7600. Imagination permits such customization under an architecture license for its GPUs. This type of license, which certain other PowerVR customers also use, allows licensees to differentiate their GPU designs beyond simply changing the core count. Apple has hired an experienced GPU design team and is capable of making such changes.Mobile Chip Report subscribers can access the full article:http://www.linleygroup.com/mpr/article.php?id=11711

I could not recall who said the statement. I was actually questioning the statement u made re many concentrating on who leaved img. There was only one mention of MA by me & 2 reply/response. What I was surprised about is that MA is not replaced yet, given the notice period requirement for such post, 6month+.
