Odey really is a classic example of not what to do. How the guy actually justifies his fees based on his abysmal performance is mystifying. His CF Odey is up 5% vs a global stock tracker 50% return over 3 yrs. Crazy.

Alphabeta4 - even the "in profit" is misleading. I have at times used IG to partially hedge my larger portfolio (never more than 50%) - and have based on the market happily lost money on my hedges. Noting that my larger portfolio is not held with IG Stockbrokers.

Completed the survey, argued that there should be reduced margin requirements for clients over 12 months if they are in profit and that they need to take care in assuming all retail clients need protecting when some of us are market professionals.

Was hoping for a decent dip in the share price after going ex-divi to pick a few more up but just hasn't happened!

company will diversify slightly to generate income elsewhere to offset regulation. this will stabilise returns if slightly lower and imho give value around 6.50 mark until numbers feed through in next 2 years. more people are spread betting now so increase in volume will slightly offset regs as well.
overall good value at this price imho and dividend or diversification make it a buy up to 6.50 for 3 year holding.

For IC its not a buy. But for me quite comfortable knowing the cash generation and ultimately all this will wash over eventually with IG in a much stronger position in relation to its smaller peers.

Favourite
IG Group’s revenue is skewed
towards a smaller number of
long-term, high-value clients. A
high concentration of revenue
among a minority of clients
can have its drawbacks if some
of these clients were to leave.
However, it could mean that
the company is less affected by
regulatory efforts to clamp down
on lower-value retail clients
being offered higher leverage.
However, even trading at an
undemanding 11 times forward
earnings, the air of uncertainty
around the impact of lower
leverage limits keeps us from
buying in.

Dave

Agree with tintin, I think storm in a teacup. There will be a few rounds of discussion they will meet somewhere near the middle and back up it will go. The biggest problem is the uncertainty, but I have patience.

All the best
