longwell - the results/trading statement won't really tell us anything new earnings wise. The results shouldn't be affected as nothing regulatory has changed yet and they were on track for another set of good results so this shouldn't change.

What is affecting the share price currently is future earnings and how they will be affected.

I would however expect a detailed response to the proposed changes and how/if that will effect future earnings and what they are going to do to minimise the impact should they come into play (which is almost certain IMO).

They were aware that this may happen approx a year ago so i would expect them to have something robust in place - if they detail this along with positive numbers this should see a strong rise which is what i am expecting.

less leverage allowed = less the client can lose = less profits as a basic theory.

It could also be argued however that this would also mean they would be limited in winnings also so payouts would also reduce. The figures show more lose than win though so the initial theory above is probably most relevant.

sp hasn't fallen because all is rosy, new share for me but sells look overdone, results/ trading statement will either confirm current share price or indicate drop over done. have added to portfolio on that basis and will now research sector more and maybe spreadbet as well. looks to me like 6.50 may be settle point so good value imho.

How can profits be hit by proposed restrictions??

I think there is some danger is that the div may be cut if IGG profits are hit by those proposed trading restrictions from the govt, which is the reason for the big recent price fall/yield rise which attracted me to it.

But it's a risk I'm prepared to take.

I think you've made a good call anhar. I'm confident the dividend is secure here and it wouldn't surprise me if you have to sell these a few years down the line when the dust settles and the yield falls as the price increase.

Just added to my income port on its 5.9% yield at 530p and 31.4p div.

My exit price is when the yield matches the FTSE100, right now 3.59%, so I would be out at 875p if it hit that now. That exit price constantly varies with the amount of div and the index yield.

My strat is to buy diversified big cap HY shares for income and hold until exit is reached on the above basis or forever, whichever comes first. The reason for an exit point is to release the cash to increase my income in a new HY share.

I'm only here for the div income, have no interest in capital flucs, who the CEO is, charts, or much else really. Don't know much about spreadbetting or CFDs. It's enough for me that IGG is some sort of bookmaker and this adds a new sector to my port.

A rising market isn't necessarily a SB firm's friend.. They make more money from volatile and falling markets than this slow creep-up.

We may have just seen a false breakdown of a bullish flag, it could be the trigger for the push upwards out of this bull flag and towards 550p..

from the pre close statement "The Company continues to perform in line with expectations, after a strong second quarter." I think trading has probably improved since then with the rise in the markets.

Price was 800p in november, seems possible imo.

"worst case scenario business is moved to non regulated country" - I believe IGG have already stated that they have no intention of relocating.

When you lose 50% of your clients money you go bust because investors stop investing in you.

Crispin's going bust imo, watch those client redemption rise, his hand is forced by events out of his control. Everything he does from this point is more gambling. He's finished.

BUY 650p

from today's Times:

'Crispin Odey has begun to shed staff after the billionaire hedge fund manager’s investments suffered the worst year in his firm’s history, losing nearly half their value as bets on a market collapse failed to come good. He said that Odey Asset Management had made redundancies after a torrid 12 months in which its main investment fund fell by 49.5 per cent.'

My mistake, thanks Langy_1.

Terrible calls by Odey on this. IGG is definitely heading in one direction. Unfortunately I'm stuck in Plus

Aside from his stake in Plus, which i'd say is a safe-ish bet, i'd do the opposite to Odey. Shorted Anglo American (+280% was it?) pretty laughable decision in retrospect.
