Results out - Very significant fall in profits £300,000 below Arden's estimate of 20th september (the last one I have). Adjusted operating margin down to 4.9%.

Also (imo) international revenues and profits going forward will be impacted by the current strength of sterling. Dividend held but not sure where the growth will come from and (imo) and will the dividend be sufficient to support the share price if (and when) interest rates go up again

I sold this morning ahead of the results. The price has jumped up presumably in view of the floods and potential drainage work. However any revenue from this is say 2 or 3 years away and this is dependent on politicians promises (ahem!). The company has already flagged up that the second half revenue will be down on last year's so I can't help feeling that the price has run ahead of itself and the results will provide a reminder of the true position.

I still like the company and its long term prospects. If there was a fall back to the 105p - 110p range I would look to buy back in. Any views? Have I boobed?

Hydro International will invite sewage treatment operators to rethink their assumptions at showSEWAGE treatment operators are to be challenged by Hydro International at IFAT 2014 to rethink their assumptions about wastewater grit particles that could be the unknown cause of huge operating inefficiencies."Operators are almost certainly allowing more harmful grit to pass through their inlet works than they realise, leading to costly equipment wear, higher energy use and increased maintenance costs - they literally may not know what they are missing," said Hydro International business director Clive Evans."We are laying down the gauntlet: Visit our stand and let us change your mind about grit removal. The result could be huge savings in operating costs.''International grit removal experts will be on hand at Hydro's stand at IFAT to question conventional assumptions and demonstrate energy savings that can be achieved."The latest scientific research into the true nature of wastewater grit is overturning conventional thinking," said Mr Evans."Particle size, shape, specific gravity and composition all influence settling velocities and affect removal efficiencies. Taking out finer grit particles than has been accepted practice could result in better plant performance and energy efficiency."Fine grit removal could be considered an essential part of a plant's energy consumption reduction plan. Energy costs can account for 50% of a plants operating costs and removing the amount of sediment that has to be pulled unnecessarily around the plant can reduce power costs substantially."The company offers 'a high-performance portfolio' of grit removal, grit washing and de-watering technologies, and new to Europe, but already proven in North America, is the space efficient HeadCell modular, multiple-tray settleable solids concentrator requires no power and has no moving parts and targets grit as small as 75 microns. The company claims it is widely accepted as the 'next generation' grit separation technology. The Hydro Grit King is an hydrodynamic vortex separator that augments gravitational forces to separate grit from water with minimal headloss. Its free-standing vessel or constructed chamber design uses no power and has no moving parts, helping achieve low operating and maintenance costs."Ideally, 90% to 95% of all grits, sands and fine particles should be removed at the inlet to the wastewater treatment plant," Mr Evans said. "Wind-blown grit, dust and sand in a wide range of particle sizes is typical of climates in Europe, the Middle East and around the world. The particles lodge in open drainage systems such as ponds, channels and highway drainage and are washed to the treatment works."Grits and sands cause extensive and costly problems to mechanical equipment. Grit abrasion of metal surfaces causes premature wear in pumps, bearings and valves. Grit settles in low flow pipes and tanks, causing blockages and plant downtime. Sludge settlement and digestion processes are disrupted by the build up of heavy inorganic sediments.''

Massive flooding in Somerset. Practically on the company's doorstep. Hence the recent buyers I guess.

I think AMP6 is going to promote a significant growth opportunity for Hydro, it seems to be the supplier of choice for many of these easy improvement projects. Sooner or later, these water companies are also going to have to take on a more comitted stance on management of waterways and flood waters, which is becomming more prevalent each year. Again, HYD engineered approach can compliment.

Anglian Water 'polishes' its sand filtration with Hydro International17 December 2013Confidence in DynaSand demonstrated. Anglian Water has selected continuously operating sand filtration technology from Hydro International as part of a strategic new Tertiary Solids Removal Framework in the run up to the AMP6 project. The Framework is for an initial three-year period with subsequent extension to five years.A total of 67 DynaSand filters from Hydro are already in use across 21 Anglian Water sites used for tertiary treatment of sewage effluent, removal of suspended solids or 'polishing' and phosphate removal. Keith Hayward, sales and marketing manager of Hydro International Wastewater Division said: "The framework demonstrates Anglian Water's confidence in DynaSand continuously operating sand filters from Hydro and in their long-standing reliability and versatility. "The AMP6 spending programme is placing growing emphasis on getting more through-life value from wastewater assets. The DynaSand units across 21 Anglian Water sites are ample proof of this and the efficiency of the technology. We hope this number will grow significantly during AMP6."The DynaSand vertical sand filter operates continuously using an internal washing process which eliminates the need for water storage tanks, backwash pumps and water collection. With a small footprint, it can be used for effluent and drinking water solids removal.

Well done again Witheco! I particularly liked the penultimate para regarding development of legislation. After all the developments on flood plains it is time drainage was well up on the to-do list of any new developments. However, knowing our political process, legislation depends on lobbying and housebuilders have large pockets.

Well done Witheco, just in case you thought you were talking to yourself. I'm a long term holder and still think there is further value here.

Stable, core business, support service under the protection of regulatory environment. No great growth expected, divi mediocre. But useful to use it as a component/filler to de-risk other assets in your portfolio. nice set of steady results, but more importantly - no horror stories with this one. I am happy to hold on to, and perhaps top up, but that discount looks like its closing up over the course of the day.

Had a quick look at the results. A pity that this enterprising, brainy and useful company is short of work.
Perhaps the best way to take profit from a portfolio is to sell the losers.
However, in this case I'll hang on in the hope of substantial contracts ahead. In the meantime HYD's grit removal in America seems to be doing well and could continue to grow.

18BT:> Agreed - very uninspiring - Looking back over the last 5 years the share price has been at about the same level.

Not a trading share as spread too wide to deal in volume. No real protection in ntav (refs 50.5p) so only thing going is yield which at just under 4% is not inspriring unless significant potential for growth - however I cannot see this (OK I may be wrong but putting very much on a low priority watch list)

Interims out - no real sign of growth at this company - they're running hard to stand still. Still financially sound though.

I picked up at 92p when it was flat-lining, it was priced within or around book value, so definitely worth picking up. It is one of my favourite migratory stocks, and have traded it for years. never made a loss, and its a nice one to put in your low risk fraction of a balanced portofolio. i notice, it Usually picks up in wet weather, And it looks like we going to have a good evaporative cycle this year in the northern hemisphere.

Witheco, you've got a point. This is so far below the sight-line there must be a point at which it is value, always provided they can clinch a couple of good contracts. I'm not unloading my modest holding but awaiting news. I cannot see the dividend threatened and it might be worth locking away in an ISA.
