Spain still a good place to make money on property
Spain is not good for taxes but the black economy is still as strong as ever and after paying top taxes in the UK for 35 years, it works for me

Yes looked at France, but inheritance tax and other taxes don't look good from a point of taking up permanent residence, Spain looks to be just as bad.

Stocktrader,

No, I've packed it (britain) in. Am now back in France for the summer. Not sure which way to go yet, having a look at some more props up here in brittany at the moment. but they have gone potty here as well, although there are some props still available for renovation, I might do that instead.

Have you thought about France at all?

maxk, thanks for the link, have read through it. Looks somewhat dodgy re the land grab etc, also have read elsware about the crime rate. Not looking so attractive now, may have to think again.

I am seriously thinking of relocating to Spain. I have read the books and trawled the net for info.
The Tax system looks over complicated and it appears that it is no longer the tax haven it once was thought to be. That said I would be very interested to hear from people living the so-called dream in Spain. A reality check if you like, from those who are doing it and those that did it and have come back.
