It's a big day for data across the pond with US non-farm payrolls due. Payrolls are forecast to rise by 175,000 in December, with average hourly earnings tipped to be 0.3 per cent higher. Unemployment figures for December are also out, and are predicted to rise to 4.7 per cent - up from 4.6 per cent in November.

I keep hearing this JPM story about them acquiring a horde of silver. IS there any categoric proof they have been doing this?

2016 is looking as though it will be a record year for production at HOC's joint venture mine, San Jose in Argentina. Minera Santa Cruz (MSC)- HOC (operator) 51%, McEwan Mining 49%. This is a 180k Au gold equiv oz/year gold/silver mine with high grade gold averaging 6.2 g/t and silver 450 g/t. Profitability has been significantly enhanced in 2016 as detailed in the report below.
HOC has 3 other fully owned mines operating in Peru.

Brief extract from Q3 results published by McEwan Mining on 3/11/2016:

San José Mine, Argentina (49%)

Our attributable production from San José in Q3 was 12,527 gold ounces and 909,017 silver ounces, for a total of 24,647 gold equivalent ounces. Compared to Q3 2015, gold and silver production increased by 3% and 4% respectively.

Tax reforms, including the elimination of export tax on doré and concentrate, and other macroeconomic developments in Argentina, as well as the devaluation of the Argentinean Peso, have resulted in a significant improvement in operations and cash flows at San José in 2016.

As a result, we received $7.9 million in dividends from MSC in Q3. We have received $13.3 million in dividends year-to-date against an original dividend forecast of $7.5 million for 2016, and, in comparison, the Company received $0.5 million in dividends for all of 2015. The Company expects to receive additional dividends throughout the year provided gold and silver prices remain at current or higher levels.

The 2016 exploration budget remains at the increased level of $6.5 million. This is the first time in several years that a significant budget has been allocated to exploration.

ODR - I was reading about JPM stacking the other night. Apparently they have been buying shedloads of Maples and Eagles over the past 5 years and... melting them down into bars! Which means of course that they couldn't get the bars because there were none available in the quantity that they wanted. What this also means is of course that there will be less Maples and Eagles in circulation so that when people start to buy silver coins in earnest they will be quite rare, probably attracting a premium. I might be tempted to hold on to me Maples and Eagles, selling the Brits first lol

Dow big fail at 20,000 again today for the umpteenth time. There must be a message there for the stock bulls ....

I thought that was Clif High himself. He said early January bitcoin would rise and then silver would follow. I can't believe how accurate that first part of the prediction was! Now we wait for silver...
