Oh I am sure that HIW will have lots of good things to tell people. I just remember reading (and I paraphrase) that an RNS was issued when the matter would/might potentially have significant impact on the share price (one way or the other). Judging by the lack of movement/sales we are talking about potential here. Continue to hold - and to add. That is not advice!

Of course it's not advice because who would want advice from an idiot such as I who failed to notice that this was not an RNS. Idiot!

One hopes HIW have reached the point where they know there are better things to come and, that FTI can do the window dressing and spread the word to fundies. The fact that FTI are happy to take them on, is a good vote of confidence in the improving future of HIW. This time next year Rodders.................

Mind you the best window dressing is to make consistently improving profits, and not to project a rosey looking future that turns out to be a paper moon.

Mr Lewis has done a great job in turning this beached hulk into an actual real business. Perhaps FTI will raise our profile and enhance the sp?

A 1% rise . . . so if we can maintain 1% a week - then only 72 weeks for me to break-even!

There's quite a hefty fee for an rns, and whilst being a welcome new product in itself it is not a game changer. I prefer the quiet style of just getting on with what they do, and not trying to gee up the market with 'WOW' news items.

Thanks dafrog. Seems like there are some good negotiating skills at HIW? Or are Nissha none too excited about the haptics? I'll look again in another three months.

NOTE TO ALL SLG MEMBERS

The SLGC AGM report has been emailed out to all SLG members today.

It is a very extensive note and you will also see there is a special deal for all SLG members to buy the Revo K2 at a much reduced price.

If for some reason you do not receive it please advise to nxtslg@hotmail.co.uk

Not much to say. Don't expect any rabbits out of hats*. JL is about devising a sensible strategy and then implementing it, and that's going to take over a year.

That was the last management's problem - raising expectations of mega products on the back of license agreements that in the event never materialised. Remember the major Japanese company that was supposed to have incorporated soundVU/haptics into a games console. The tranducers were said to be bought and paid for, but did the device ever appear?

Most of the trades here are just background noise until the co starts to head in a clear direction.

* although one should always be ready for the unexpected.

Half a million buy - looks like somone liked that 'review'!

Apologies (although I suspect I am talking to myself) - maybe not a buy at all - or rather a CFD buy..

The design is the first high-end loudspeaker to employ a Balanced Mode Radiator. This clever device covers the audio spectrum from 380Hz upwards to beyond

Nigel, thanks, I thought that was a tortuous way of saying they had agreed a new licence for technology that had previously been licenced. Anyway I'm impressed JL came away with such a good result. Didn't exactly have a strong hand. I am impressed with his ability to deliver what he promises. Think it's going to take a while and may not be all plain sailing, but he might just turn HIW around. Worth risking a small amount in my opinion while it's at, I hope, it's nadir.

Thanks - have read those. I meant your view - especially as someone who purchased earlier examples of NXT technology.

The reviews seem to be generally good. Think I saw a 5/5 star review in What Hi-Fi? It would be nice to be able to crank the volume just a little bit higher, but then they are only 8.5cm cubes.

Verdict

The Soundscience QSB USB-powered speakers may seem pricey, but their great sound and build quality justify the outlay if you frequently work on a laptop and are not chained to your desk. Cool and convenient, they're probably the most desirable USB speakers around. They only function within a limited set of situations, but within these limitations they perform wonderfully.

Just bought and installed SoundScience QSB laptop speakers. Rather surprised to see they contain NXT technology. It's been 15 odd years since I bought my Wharfedale Loudpanel speakers. Alas the years have not been kind to NXT!!

trante, the RNS included the text "HiWave UK has agreed to a license previously licensed and assigned patents to Nissha on a non-exclusive basis on condition that Nissha uses HiWave haptic components. which I had difficulty parsing. I assumed (and Lindsay at Hiwave has since confirmed) that the 'a' in 'agreed to a license' should not be there. The rest of the wording surprised me, and in view of that one small typo left me wondering if I had understood it correctly. I would expect some phrase like 'Hiwave and Nissha have replaced an earlier license agreement with ...'.

As it is, the agreement seems almost too good to be true, and as such, I was worried that I was misunderstanding. Hiwave seem to have got everything they want. That presumably means that Nissha could not see themselves doing anything with the license as it was (which is perhaps bad news), but hopefully are still interested in the technology if Hiwave (as the RNS says) "take responsibility for development and provision of transducers and controllers for haptics applications"
