What an upbeat video, they look as though they know where they are going and where they want to be - not like the shower who sold us down the river.
I wonder if they'll have the balls to eventually tell shareholders how we ended up here!

No, have a deal on the cards with Rio, if they want.

A lot of money needed to start mining - more dilution for HIF shareholders?

i am holding hif for conversion into mirl which looks a decent latin american play especially with the potential of accelerated development of don nicolas.however have participated in the marl placing as it represents a clearer play on santa cruz being the next big thing..should be decent level of newsflow to come.

Capital raising to accelerate follow-up exploration at the Dos
Calandrias gold-silver discovery
Mariana Resources Ltd ("Mariana" or the "Company") is undertaking a
placement to raise approximately GBP2.6M at a price of 13p per share.
The Company's broker, FinnCap, in conjunction with GMP Europe (acting
as co-broker) have collectively registered demand to place
approximately 12 million new shares. The Company's Nomad, RFC, has
also received indicative commitments to place a further USD1 million
of shares.

my goodness £15m mkt cap - low price 1.5p - now just raised cash at 13p. What do you think Ken?

neudarian - Zedder has explained my point.

The HIF share price has generally stood at a discount of between 5 and 10% to the MIRL shares into which it will potentially convert.
Today MIRL are quoted online at 74p to buy (i.e. 1p inside the official spread) and trades in HIF are going through at 1.63p.

Cost of 42K HIF = £684.60 + expenses
Cost of 1K MIRL =£740.00 + expenses
Saving = £55.40 which represents a 7.5% discount for the risk of the takeover failing.

Many thanks for the hint Zedder, happy to follow the lead into what looks to me anyway a really good fit.

At closing offer prices today, to buy 100k HIF would cost £1650. To buy the equivalent 2380 shares in MIRL (assuming offer remains unchanged) would cost £1785.

Hi boadicea,
Why do you say a 'relatively cheap way into MIRL'?
Isn't it exactly the same cost as buying the shares directly?

New to this, and while obviously substantial value (and a relatively cheap way into MIRL subject to risk of it falling through) I also wonder whether there is any chance of a counter-bid appearing.
One company that springs to mind by way of example, is LRL (quoted AIM and ASX) as it is just liquidating (under local pressure?) a gold mining investment in China which will leave it with ca. £28m for reinvestment.

Minera have put their all into this:
From the interims in 2007.
They have handpicked HIF.
Mightily impressed.

We continue to assess new opportunities throughout Peru, Argentina and,
recently, Colombia. Our project generation team has evaluated fifteen new
projects since the end of June and they will continue a vigorous programme in
all three countries.

Sadly beggers can't be choosers

They've sold us down the river in my opinion - wet haddocks that they are - I would need convicing that they had put their all into this.
Persuade me otherwise anyone??

Cannot see a better partner coming in for HIF.
Firesale price, as expected.

They have the cash cow:Corihuarmi

Then they also have:

Also potentially a basket of real goodies for a song in HIF.
Very under visited quiet board.
A very tasty morsel? To purchase, apperently unknown to most pi's.

Very very low cost gold producer, really hammering out the profits.

Ideal combination, producer +HIF + Aquisitive with cash, on tap.
