At first the lure of the dividend looks good

Hence the lift today

However the next year is going to be tough , and the best bloke is leaving

Turnover dropped by a whopping circa £200m , ok they made a profit

But COAL prices are still dropping and so is OIL and other commodities

Will Turnover drop next year by another £200m ? or £100m

If so what will the profit be then ?

well you wouldn't want to be short this right now. No sellers in sight

I applaud the company for getting the debt down - it is a great achievement and I would expect the share price to rise short term on the back of this.

However.

Where is the plan for moving away from coal? It seems they are bunkering down (no pun intended!) for a long winter of low coal prices and hope to come out the other side, whilst looking to diversify.

Two problems with this -

- Coal may never recover in an extremely coal averse world

- Diversifying is expensive and not always successful in a crowded marketplace.

I have no position btw - just an interest in the sector.

I don't see what is stunning about them.

Still looks like they are gambling on coal improving and seem to have no serious plan b.

Increasing the divi is all very well short term.

Profits down however dividend up? Strange way to go about things.

edit - also those one off cost savings like shedding 1/4 of the admin base and selling of profitable arms of the business cannot be made again.

On the chart, I waited until 4:29pm to see if the potential double bottom would be confirmed.

If it had I would have chanced a few grand. But it fell short at the close.

Someone either desperate to close their short before results or someone thinks the results are going to beat expectations.

Looks like short closing to me based on L2

Well volume has been very low recently without buyers or sellers. Buyers have decided to move it up a bit and still very few sellers until a few finally kicked in at 308.

An absolutely ridiculously large buy order loaded 304. It's been there so long today I have no idea whether it is real, fake or just a fat finger.

Well my 3.52 entry price was wrong I have always believed it is very difficult to call the bottom or indeed the top. I am buying more at the 296 region to bring my average down to 3.20

I wonder at what point the company might decide something needs to be done? 250p -maybe 200p-maybe 50p. The seems to be a sense of drift here.

Good piece Rohkap.Poor visibility makes for a low rating which is what this company has. Management credibility is compromised in my view but there will be no changes. GB still has much to play for. The Uk's last deep mines will now all close which again should be a positive. We really need a road map here -maybe based on ongoing low carbon prices for a sustained period.
